But Xenogears is the greatest rpg of all time. It completely worth the $50+. Also, get Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2. The storyline is amazing and very mature. I would suggest you get the Xenosaga series as well (though the battle system in Xenosaga: Episode 2 sucked ass).

Digital Devil Saga series first. It is far better then the Xenosaga series IMO. It has an amazing storyline, great music, deep and mature characters and a very challenging battle system. The only downside is the large amount of random battles.

sell total war and get civ 4 with all the expension instead, you will see the game is so much deeper and the ai is so much better, but be aware that it will take you 100's of hours to be able to beat the game at the highest difficulty
