I have not really been hooked by Dragon Age, but if you like the morality system, that is the game for you

I am considering Demon's Souls, but I hate really hard games, especially if I think they are unfair, and it seems the game is that way

You're going to get both eventually? Then go for Dragon Age: Origins. I'm currently playing the PC version and I'm loving it. (The PS3/360 versions should be roughly the same as the PC one). It's a great game and I highly recommend it.

I've never played Demon's Souls, but the price will eventually come down on that game if you wait, so you might as well get the lower cost game now.

Dragon Age: Origins if you have a gaming PC.

If not, well, if you're into deep, hardcore dungeon crawlers, then Demon's Souls it is.

It's not unfair at all.  You die, lose experience and souls, start over from beginning of level.  But trust me, you won't die in that same spot very often because you will learn quickly to adapt to the environment and learning from mistakes will be you're number 1 priority.
