I own both a PS2 and GOW 1 and 2. Neither game is the best of it's genre. And I have finished both. They are good games with flaws. DI does it better. GOW 3? We shall see. But already GOW 3 loses in the setting department.

want to make a bet about their meta score? I'll bet on god of war and you'll bet on Di:P

just had a play through of dante's inferno demo and i must agree, it is a god of war clone. everything about it shouts "hey i copied gow3" not that its a bad thing. but i still prefer gow3.

if you have a ps3, i'd recommend gow3 over dante's inferno. if you have an xbox360, then i'd say, dante's inferno is a must play game!

You mean we could if DI wasn't God of War: Reskinned Edition

Based on the demo, there is absolutely nothing that Dante's Inferno does better than God of War 1 or 2. It copies everything right down to the right analog stick being used for evasion. I bet if GoW used the R3 stick for controlling the camera instead, DI would have it be for the camera too.

This game so blatantly rips off GoW its not funny, I know how people were saying that Bayonetta is DMC with a skin-job which I thought was kinda slack way to describe any game but in this case I'd have to agree, this is pretty much GoW with a Skin-job. The setting promises some pretty twisted boss and since I like the genre I'll probably get this. But man this won't come close to action game of the year much less all time (which it'll have to be to be consider superior to GoW 1 & 2).

From what I've played so far with the demos, Bayonetta shits all over this and is even better than the GoW3 demo. (I'm now only waiting for Darksider)

The fact that it is so very similar to God of War, may actually be an advantage.

at least in my case, as i know myself, when i finish a great game, i usually want more of the same.
That could very well make me buy Dante's Inferno after i finished God of War

Oooh, but...Wolverine, Conan, Viking and a host of other games are very similiar as well...why didn't those cause as much of a stir amongst the God of War faithful?

I'm not speaking as one of the "God of War faithful", God of War wasn't my favorite action game from last gen anyway.

The problem is that it is shitting all over the source material in ways that game adaptations have rarely, if ever, done before. This is almost apocalyptic. The only way to appropriately sum it up would be with the elder swear, the utterance of which would kill me and then everyone who read it.

LOL...you'll get no argument from me as to the abusing of the source material, but I'd hardly categorize this as the coming of the four horsemen...Hey...I just got an idea for a new game...Apocalyptic Gods...it will play like God of War, but you'll have Conquest who is a Ranger Character, War, who is like Kratos, Famine who is a Warlock/Mage, and Death who is...well...Death.  4-man Co-op would rock...okay...bad joke, and worst idea, so don't call the Christian coalition on me.  The is this...it is about suspending belief...it's not like Divine Comedy is a true story...it's a 800 year old poem.  Look at Beowulf, and all the liberal takes on that story?  Better yet, look at 300 the movie...did you absolutely hate it? 

 

This is an example of a better idea for an action game than Dante's Inferno.
