i feel your pain man same thing happened to me 2 months ago when i first got Halo ODST.  Lucky for me the towel trick worked and i was gaming with it untill November when got me a MW2 Edition 360.  sold the old one piece by piece on ebay "yes i let them know it had RROD'd" made $75.00 and bought me some live games and an extra controller.  I love my 360 but that was the second time it had RROD'd, first time was still under warranty though.

I remember in 2005 when i stood in line to get my 360. I turned it on and i saw the Rrod:p but i didnt know what it was and it didnt appear so often. Until summer came and it crashed completly i sent it in and it took me 4 months to get a new one:P. I got rrod 6 months later and i got a new one right away. Then the dashboard update came along and i got E74, so i swapped it in yet again. Then my brother purchase a new 360 and get the disc error:p mine still works though:p Theres 5 years warranty around here, so it doesnt bother me to much:p

If you get an Elite or Arcade manufactured with the Jasper chip (sometime in 08) you'll be fine. I got an Elite manufactured October, 09 and sold my 06 Pro console (RROD twice but fine since) to my bro's mate. Warranty runs out March 2010 if I count from 06.

that sucks... but on the bright side you'll be getting a newer model in when you do get it

Oh well just do something else in the meantime.
