Curious to see how this comes out. It could be really close (according to the JP preview). I just got my copy yesterday, so that's a +1 for the number up until 12/27. ;-p

Yeah, I was actually surprised when I went to the game/video rental store closest to me, they were sold out of the game! I had to go to another store to find the game (and they only had a few copies left).

Before I picked up a copy locally, I was thinking about getting it from Amazon JP, but at the time it said it was back-ordered until 12/30. Now it's back-ordered until 1/08, haha.

what is really amazing is that they are sold out. MKWii, Wii Play, WSR, Wii Fit (and Plus) all make sense to be sold out, as they come with special hardware.

I bet the only reason NSMBWii is sold out is because they aren't producing enough red cases

I won't even venture a guess. I knew the game would sell well but it's actually selling faster than the DS version. It didn't think that was possibility before it's release. Eventually it will fall behind the DS game but the sales are still impressive nonetheless.

If it does, that means that it will, in four weeks, have sold more than 2.5 million. That's more than MKWii has done so far. 
I'm frankly quite shocked at how large Super Mario Bros. is in Japan. The DS version has a shot at becoming the third best selling game ever over there (behind only the Blue/Red and Gold/silver), but it's likely to end ~ 300K behind the original Super Mario Bros.  In other words, NSMB DS will almost definitely be either the 3rd or 4th best selling game in Japan ever. 
NSMB Wii has quite a good chance at beating Dragon Quest VII (at 4.12 million), making it the second best selling console title ever, second to only the original Super Mario Bros (at 6.8 million). 

I went with lower than Week 3 but higher than Week 2. That sounds fair.
