I'm telling you folks, this game will hit 30mill WW. Mark those words.

hello how are you.

I think some people may be getting a bit (a bit) carried away due to the latest numbers. Yes the game has almost unprecedented sales, and yes I expect it will have absolutely great legs for a long time to come, but I believe at least some of the numbers we see here are further augmented due to the season (hence why week 3 is higher than week 2), and so while I expect it to do great, I think the higher end of expectations (30 mil) is a bit too optimistic, a result of people looking at (partly) season influenced numbers and extrapolating them.

But who knows.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Not sales related, but just wanted to say that this game is just amazing. It's what video games should be.

People have always predicted high sales, as many of us thought it could be "the next Mario Kart." High 20 million or cracking 30 million has been discussed before (I'd still put it under mid-high 20's), just think of it as a beefed up NSMB DS. The fact that current sales are due to the holiday boost is taken into consideration.

The "latest numbers" hardly change this - it means worldwide the game will sell maybe 2 million more than expected (though I am shocked it'll shatter all records in Japan). America and Others is where it counts, and while I'm sure America can easily manage 10+ million sales (we love our Mario here), I'm unsure how high it can get in Others. Of course, this isn't quite guaranteed yet, just my take on it, we'll have to wait and see for sure.

so ff13 makers are crying due to this haha

Nah, I don't think so. I really doubt these games take sales from each other - if anything they each fuel the fever to buy video games...

It's doing better than I thought it would do initially, I thought it would take some time to get going, but I always thought this was the next MKWii.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Personally I was expecting about 800k - 325k - 300k in Japan so it is definitely doing better than expected. I also had FF XIII down more at 1.2m - 175k so both titles are doing better than expected in Japan.

so no one is crying then ok

i can't wait for this game to pass 11 million in sells so i can craft an epic crow-feast of a thread.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312

I ca't wait until this game becomes the best selling mario home console game that's not standalone and not bundled with nouthing at all! Mario will reclaim that spot
