The Throwback Galaxy reminds me of very very good memories with SM64. I'm glad they made Twhomp Fortress back, but I wonder if Mario has to base all its game on nostalgia? Anyway, I don't complain about it, fav' level so far.

Such crapload coming from the comments about the editorial... It's normal that certain people didn't like Galaxy. Everyone has his tastes. But coming on the editorial to bash the game, no.

And the guy who said Nintendo is not anymore the same company, I disagree mostly. I never had that fun with Nintendo games since the Wii console. I hated the Gamecube, apart from Double Dash. I hated Sunshine. Wii is a glorious console with all my favorite games for each franchise. I consider Metroid Prime 3, Galaxy, Twilight Princess, NSMBW, Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros Brawl the best games of their franchise.

Sounds like Galaxy 2 is gonna be great! from all the footage, and now the IGN editorial thingy. only a few days left!!! XD

UPDATE: We've reached out to Nintendo to confirm whether or not the bonus DVD is exclusive to the PAL version of the game. We'll update this story as soon as we hear back.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is fast approaching its May 23 release date, and it's apparently bringing a tutorial DVD along for the ride. Nintendo fan site Cubed3 first posted the news over the weekend (via vg247).

Coupled with the new Hint TV and Cosmic Witch features (detailed in our most recent preview of the game), this tutorial DVD should help ease newcomers into Super Mario Galaxy 2's interplanetary platforming. Though it is a bit peculiar that, because the Wii doesn't support DVD playback, players will most likely have to pop the disc into a DVD player in order to watch the thing.

Either way, it definitely seems like Nintendo's hoping to sell more casual gamers on Galaxy 2 than its predecessor did. We'll see how that turns out for them over the next month or two.

Wait whut? Bonus DVD? For real? That'd be cool. Sort of. Depends on what's on it. If it's just some videos showing newcomers what the gameplay's all about, then no thanks. If it includes exclusive bonus content, behind-the-scenes developer's commentary, a personal message from Miyamoto, Iwata, and Reggie thanking me for buying the game and showing me around Nintendo's studios, an exclusive 1st look @ Retro's new game, plus a playable demo of Zelda Wii, and some trailers and soundtracks on top of it all, then yes, I'd be happy.

Otherwise, nothing will be able to ease my torment of waiting an additional few weeks for the game's release.

At least you'll probably get it first day, even if I'm in Americas I won't have it until june 30th

I agree. Nintendo improved on such games as Super Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Mario Sunshine had a slightly flawed storyline and Mario Kart Double Dash lack depth in single-player mode. Critics tend to compare games as opposed to reviewing them individually.
