In an interview with Miyamoto, he said 240.

 

From gameinformers review "Super Mario Galaxy 2 throws something new at you nearly every single level - and with over 240 stars to collect, that's no small feat."

 

I am still skeptical however.

^^ It sounds awesome, i'm not watching the vid though, so i can only picture it >_<

and what's with this "one of the most revolutionary pieces of music in gaming" thingy? i wish i could hear it! i look forward to hearing this game's epic music, from the sound of the buzz around here it looks to be magnifecent :D

i also heared XenoBlade has a superb soundtrack aswell. things are looking bright for music in games :)

^^ ^_^ Koji Kondo is a genius, so anything he composes is instantly amazing. I can't wait to hear his orchestrated pieces for Zelda Wii.... I don't think I'll ever finish that game, because I'll just sit around listening to the music all day XD.

The soundtrack I am looking forward to the most, however, is for Ni no Kuni (another world), because Joe Hisaishi is composing the music :D.

Here is a quote from ONM: "The music in the World 3 map screen is some of the best in gaming. Trust us"                                                                   My initial view on this was featured in a previous post of mine. I intended to show you their exact words.
