I absolutely think so! the trailers showed so many new ideas and they looks like so much fun, but they also showed more challenging stages which automatically make the game better for me

as for reviews, well that's another story altogether, will they add points for more original ideas or deduct more points for it being a straight sequel? we'll get the answer soon enough

Well, people seem favorable to this new entry of the 3D Mario franchise. Hope this sequel will at least equal the first in terms of awesomeness.

Whoa, this is one of the best official game threads I've seen. Everything look so shiny.

To answer the question, yeah at least the gameplay would be better with the extra challenge and the ease to get from level to level.

I'll miss the central hub, though, I'm one of the few people's who really loved it.

I guess it'll be better, but I'll predict a final meta score of 95ish, two points lower from the original.

@ this week's discussion: i don't think they can really "improve" much now, how can they when the latest iteration of the franchise has reached near perfection. they can certainly input new ideas and gameplay mechanics but it'd be pretty tough to top a 97 metacritic like SMG has

as for the storyline, i don't think it really needs to change as it is largely unnecessary and almost nonexistant as is, any change would hardly be an improvement, thought i did like the SMG's story tidbits about rosalina's background

Boulder Bowl Galaxy is the galaxy in the trailer #3 where Rock Mario is available as a new powerup (I prefer to call him Goron Mario )

His name is Rollidillo and he is an Armadillo 

they need a directly bar in this game and more death defying obstacle courses that are really challenging, I remember when mario was for people who were seriously good at that kind of thing but they make it to easy but it could be one of the best games made with challenging boss battles and crazy obstacle courses that are insanely tough but yoshi is a plus..........
