From your link.

The Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Challenge, first announced December 3, will start this Thursday on December 17, 2009 and run through January 25, 2010. Players will be able to download the demo directly to their PlayStation 3 consoles via the PlayStation Network starting this Thursday.

The demo was specifically designed for this competition to showcase the realism of the brand-new physics engine and to challenge players’ driving skills using professional driving physics and many of the driving assists disabled. The full Gran Turismo 5 will feature multiple driving assists and various settings that can be changed to make the game easier or more challenging and realistic.

I don't see anywhere it says that Sony not calling it a demo.  Is this a bad thing? NO!! I was quite impressed with how the cars handeled and this DEMO give a great indication of what we can expect next year.

Jeez.

The purpose of this download was to get the handling. Gran Turismo is going to be at least 50gb in size and a 250mb download is a very stripped down backgrounds for the game. The handling is simply superb and unmatched.

The graphics are reduced as well to fit the 250mb download. The proof is that Prologue looks better. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a retard. end of story.

I'm sorry to say this, but to all you guys who believe this is NOT a demo of GT5 and that the graphics will be better in the full game: prepare yourself to be dissapointed.

True, this is not a demo of the real GT5. And yes, this demo is only made, specifically, for GT Academy 2010. But trust me, the only difference between this demo and the full game is that you'll have a 1000 cars instead of 2, you'll have cosmetic damge and "performance damage", you'll race against a maximum of 15 cars and you'll get all the options and modes from a real GT game. But will the graphics change? Probably not, UNLESS Polyphony Digital and/or Sony wants to deceive us with this demo and that the graphics part of it is from an older build. Than in the full GT5 game they'll use the new and improved graphics engine to surprise everyone with beautiful graphics.

Come on, do you guys really believe that? Ok, this track is pretty "boring" for the eyes, and we all know that the London track and various other ones will have beautiful surroundings, like we've seen in GT5P. But will it get BETTER than this newest demo, with prettier graphics? Possibly, but i don't think so. The crowds will look just the same, the trees will be the same and everything will still look clean and sterile.

Do i care? No, cause i'm already VERY happy with the graphics and VERY happy with the physics engine in this newest demo. So, i can't wait for GT5! And like i said before, everyone who still thinks that the graphics will look better in the final game: prepare yourself to be dissapointed.

EDIT: And about the excuse of the demo size limit, wth?! Why on earth would they want to tone down the graphics for this demo, just so the file size will be like 250MB instead of like 1GB for every other demo out there?? There is no why, cause they didn't tone down the graphics.

You do realize it is a 250MB file right? The graphics will be way better, especially the scenery. -__-

I edited an extra part in that post of mine, but i'll say it again here. Why on earth would Sony want to tone down the graphics so the demo will have a file size of 250MB, while every other demo out there is 1GB+. Why would they want to throw a demo out there, even if it's just for a GT Academy 2010 event, that looks noticeably less impressive than their full game, just so the file size will be 250MB instead of like what, 500MB? Of course, i'm not saying it's not possible, but to me it sounds like you guys are just lying to yourself...hoping that it will look prettier in the full game. Or is it just to defend the game from the haters?

I share your concerns.  Everyone falls back on, well GT5P looks better.  But GT5P also didn't have damage and 15 cars on the track.  But for me its not about the track but about the cars; how they look and how they drive.  And this demo gives us a very good indication of what we can expect.  The cars look and drive fantastic!!

People, there are 1000 cars on that Blu-Ray!! That is more than any other GT game + this one also has fully detailed interiors. This is going to take up most of the space of the game.  Seriously, how much data is a 3D tree, or a 3D modeled crowd?

I wouldn't worry about the track detail. We've seen the Tokyo track in a previous demo and that track looked much better. Whats important is that it is running in 1080p at 60FPS.

I do agree with you on the music. Just horrible!! Also, some of the sound effects are still left over from the first GT.

But for any GT game I usually turn off the music so I can enjoy the sounds of the moter reving to redline.

the music wasnt something special, but i liked it. :P

@graphics:

it looked good.. im sure the Final Version will be better (we're speaking about the academy demo here..), but the replay mode looked gorgeous, imo.

maybe the first GT in my Collection.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

I'm actually surprised the file is only 240MB. Aren't most demos at least 750MB (at least on Xbox360)?
