Forums - Sales Discussion - PS3 sets a record for the highest hardware sales during Final Fantasy week

The PS3 sets a new hardware record for the highest hardware sales during a Final Fantasy release week.

I'm skipping I - VI because it's extremely confusing. In Japan the US release on II is IV and III is VI....just confusing, but I skimmed through most of them and it seems as though the highest hardware sales for a Final Fantasy release week is around 170K, it never went over 200K.

FFVII: 165K hardware, Released January 31st 1997, had about 5 days of sales

FFVIII: 100K hardware, Released February 11th 1999, had about 3 days of sales

FFIX: 65K hardware, Realeased July 7th 2000, had about 3 days of sales

FFX: 172K hardware, Relaased July 19th 2001, had about 3 days of sales

FFX-2: 80K hardware, Released March 13th 2003, had about 4 days of sales

FFXII: 67K hardware, Released March 16th 2006, had about 3 days of sales

FFXIII: 245K hardware, Released December 17th 2009, had about 4 days of sales

Can't wait for this weeks numbers. I expect DS and Wii to be monsers as usual....

PS3 has a chance at topping 1 Million but I still have my doubts.

360 to keep the pace at around 500-550K

PSP to do horribly and PS2 to do amazing for a console 9 years old.

Final Fantasy = Huge System Seller Confirmed!
245k sales boost for a game, that's just incredible. I wonder what would have happened in the U.S if this was exclusive there @_@

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

To get a better comparison, you should add release dates. FFXIII's push is hugely impressive, but it really needs to be noted it's happening in the holiday season too (which is also a major hardware driver).

and you also need to quote the install base of the respective console before the launch

has one ever launched at xmas to such a low install base?

Gimme 10 mins I'll update it, and FFVII released with a hardware install base of 4.5 million, I think that was the lowest.

Nice for Nice game

Damn out did 7 and 10

and lets mention its high price of game and console.

Japan makes me feel so happy when they buy things! /s

Repent or be destroyed

Why would we doubt PS3 topping 1 million if last week it sold 350k in america and EU (700k)

And this week it's Xmas +eve + Boxing week in NA that means that NA should do a goo 400-500k along with EU because of Xmas 800k-1million +150k JP So minimum will be 900k max 1.2 million I bet.

Honestly, do JRPG makers even realize how hard it is to save the world? That shit is impossible!

it's in line with FFX and FF7 is what i see as far as a hardware driving game, all 3 of these games were released when the system had a small userbase so it's not much of a surprise. The rest of the difference is just because of the holiday season

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
