Perhaps "fanboy" was too harsh of a word. There is of course nothing wrong with prefering one dev/publisher over another; but deciding now that you are going to buy one company's consoles and games no matter what and without knowing anything about them would make you a fanboy. Just my opinion though.

See thats the thing though. We know some titles. PS4 will have a Ratchet and Clank. There will be a new Naughty Dog franchise made. The next Killzone (or one after it) will come. For Nintendo we know there will be Mario platformers, Zelda, and Metroid will get another iteration. I don't know Microsofts first party that well so no comment there. These games can be enough to push people over the edge. Hardly a fanboy for knowing what games you like.

This is very true. And I agree to a certain extent. However, there have been plenty of continuations of trusted franchises that have been disappointing. For example, I have always been a Prince of Persia fan and was hugely disappointed with the latest entry in the franchise. Just because a game has Mario in the title, certainly doesn't mean it is a good game. For that reason I judge a game or console based on its own merit and not based on that of its predecessors.
