Seriously BladeOfGod I'm starting to find you a little tiresome...

Than don't read my posts?

Nooooooooooooooooooo

Yes, because im sick of being called joke account because of my prediction MIGHT be wrong. You 2 were wrong before too

There's a difference between a prediction based on reasoning, and a prediction that has none.

Look, I can say the lifetime hardware of X360 sales will be 3x higher than the PS3's by the end of the gen. Technically my prediction might not be wrong until the given time period, but does it make sense to you why nobody would take this particular one seriously?

ioi, no! I've almost got him agreeing to the easiest bet in the universe!

He thinks NSMBWii will outsell FFXIII lifetime in Japan! If I can get him to nail down a timeframe to be indicative of those trends - like a year from now - imagine the possibilities.

I said FF 13 will outsell NSMBW in japan, not the other way around. And i said by the end of this gen.

You really don't understand sales or trends at all.

Good. If you think so, thats fine by me, thats your opinnion.

Im done posting in this thread.

It's fine if you want to take your ball, and go home. The point isn't that you're making a prediction. It's that you're making a prediction everyone knows will be wrong. Everyone but you.

Imagine if I predicted that New Moon will beat Avatar in the U.S. box office this weekend. Sure, I have every right to predict this, but I'd be wrong. Everyone would know I am, and most people would probably think I'm joking. Wouldn't it seem rather silly for me to get defensive if people called me out for my horrible prediction?

wow, people are really overhyping NSMBW sales. 30 million my ass. If NSMB DS couldnt sell that much what chances does Wii version have with 2 times smaller userbase. I think NSMBW will sell 15m-17m worldwide, about 2m more than FF13

Wii is tracking on par with DS, and Mario Kart Wii massively outdid Mario Kart DS.

And MKWii being bundled with wheel controller has nothing to do with it

Excitebots is also bundled with the Wheel controller, so there goes that theory.

Excitebots brand is much lees powerfull than Mario brand and it had much less comercials on TV, so there goes that theory

And with that reply, it seems you do actually realize why Mario Kart Wii sells - and it has nothing to do with a plastic wheel.

it sells because of brand power AND wheel controller

Well maybe they should package that wheel controller in with Final Fantasy XIII in the West - it's gonna need it to reach your outrageous projections!

That argument is so strong and makes so much sence that i am speechless now

I'm sure.  By your logic, plastic wheels somehow boosts sales, so...

I may be wrong but reading his responses it seems to me he thinks the plastic wheel bundled with Mario Kart Wii (and Excitebots...) is actually a motion controller, not just a piece of plastic. Note that he keeps calling it "wheel controller" and in one post says "New innovative motion controller + the strongest brand in gaming and lots of ads= Good sales".

That makes a lot of sense. I couldn't fathom why he would think the plastic wheel was the reason for MK:Wii's success, but if it was an extra controller in itself that would justify it.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

he is never going to reply any post with reasoning. see my post here which basically says the same thing.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Ok, I haven't read this whole thread (its currently 411 posts long!!!!!), but here are my thoughts and observations about this (as stated in the news story comments):

1) Excellent sales for FFXIII and the PS3 coming out of Japan. Good job to all involved.

2) How much more would the game have sold had they released a 360 version? Easily 500k+. I still would like to know why it was not released on the 360 in Japan, but we'll probably never know. Regardless, it would've possibly made this the best selling FF release on launch since FFVII and that would've been HUGE. Their loss.

3) If all of us were completely honest, then we would admit that this being the PS3's single best launch ever is not remotely close to being a surprise. There will never be another game on the system more highly anticipated or hyped in Japan. This was the one and it looks like it delivered.

4) And I hate for this to sound negative, but it's just an observation. This is yet another example of a hugely popular PS1-PS2 franchise that failed to sell near as much as previous iterations have. This is more evidence that the PS fanbase is now split between the PS3 and 360, so it wouldn't be any surprise if most classic PS series do not sell near as much on the PS3. For examples, see MGS, R&C and GTA sales; expect similar patterns with GT and GoW.
