Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is NATAL really any different than play station eye ?

i mean in 2007 when Eye of Judgement released you could play the game without using controller is n' t natal so famous because you don 't use controller

also he monsters could sense you finger your moves around them

in 2009 sony released Eye Pet

is n't  it real fun ?

sony may produce more games that use play station eye some like the ones that 360 dream natal to have RTS strategy so NATAL can be said Play Station Eye 1.5

yes and no

it is also tracking movement
but Natal seems to do much more like tracking voice
also, if you add the software showed with Milo then you have a sort of "IA" that can react to your own voice/order/question

what is true is that you can imagine Sony eye toy could match Natal in some area but both "controllers" will have some specificities.

Yes, I see where the argument comes from. However, natal (supposedly) recognizes voice commands (like the smoke-and-mirrors Milo presentation promises). If Natal lives up to what's been promised, then it's an EyeToy 2.0, and if it doesn't then it's no better than what has already been implemented for years.

I think the big difference is that Natal can sense depth.

play station camera has a microphone on it i don 't hink it is difficult sony to make a game with voice recognition

Hm, you're right. I totally forgot it had a mic. Software is the issue then. It'd be interesting to see what they could come out with to utilize voice commands.

that is the part you may have wrong : it is perhaps very difficult

also, the Wand is late compared to Natal :

1/ they dont have a definitive name (what a marketing error compared to Natal ...)

2/ Ubisoft has 10 Natal game vs 5 wand game because they received the developpement kit ... after receiving the ones for Natal ...

wand is built in the playstation eye tech they don 't need the wand because they already have play station eye and they can pay 3rd parties to develop games for it

@ this: Natal is probably much harder to develop for as well, which may be why MS released dev kits so soon. I'd imagine GEM is much easier to make a game around.

problem is that for me : GEM = Eye toy + wand

in clear, they have done Eye toy 2.0 by adding the Wand to it and so ameliorating the tracking

but considering Natal is "new" we can imagine making a game for it will be longer
