I was wondering why some PS3 disc-based games have 1-gold, while others have 5 gold (if you consider the GoW-collection a single game then it has 10 gold). Other games like SFIV have rediculously difficult trophies and they only give silver for them, I think it only has 1 gold and it requires online wins.
So I'd like to know if there are some sort of quota that Sony gives the game devs on the trophies they can give away for the game. The trophies doesn't seem to be difficulty based since GoW gold trophies easy to accomplish while SFIV can have you grinding for weeks for a few silvers and a paltry 1 gold. Do the game devs pay for the trophies they can include with the game? That idea seems absurd but given that there are very few games that are generous enough to give more than 3 gold trophies I'm kind of thinking this may be true.
And so I present the question: Why do you think most game developer studios are stingy when rewarding trophies for their games?
