Forums - Nintendo - Why doesn't Nintendo build up their new franchises?

Mario has lasted long enough so he will sell 'til the world ends (in 2012 , that movie was really funny, yet stupid, I can't believe you said it sucked) Metroid is dying and zelda is reviving, pokemon blasts saleswise too...

Ok I was wrong here. I forgot wii sports. That as a mistake. Also I wouldn't say Exite Truck is a franchise. The Exite part is. If it was Exite truck was a franchise were's #2?Though the Wii series seems to be the only new one that they seem to push. Though they haven't pust Extebots though. So that kind of proves the point.

Here's the Exciting history of the Excite franchise:

Excitebike, 1984 - Excitebike 64, 2000 - Excitetruck, 2006 - Excitebots, 2009 - Excitebike; World Rally, 2009

Some games like Mario Excitebike were released only in Japan.

The movie was ok, the ending was the part that ruined it in my opinion.

Why should Nintendo bring out new IP's when older franchises are still quite profitable and no one is challenging them on their Wii platform?

Go watch other good movies. You'll see why. Also how is Zelda reviving it never died?

i think one the main reasons is they are living off the old franchises and that won't take them too far they need new stuff can't live off mario forever cause he'll evantually get boring and no one will buy the game

zelda is reviving because oot hurted the zeldas that came after it....

i think Nintendo should get retro studio's make a kick arse new IP

I like how you mention kirby... no says kirby needs to revive... anyways...
besides the Wii-series.... I would love to see them dish out an ip that competes with mario, zelda, and metroid... so there could be 4 powerful ips to use... but it doesnt bother me they dont do anything outstanding or make a new ip... it is very hard to do...

This thread has already made, but like I said "They don't really need to"

The Wii is targeted much more to people who remember the franchises on the NES.
So it would be a natural that such games would do well.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
