Forums - Sony - Things Sony's Motion Controller Needs To Kill Natal

How do you win a motion controller battle? Get the most content and software behind it. This is one of the problems Microsoft may face with Natal. Sony can easily implement its motion controller into its gigantic line-up of first/second party games. Microsoft has to rely mostly on 3rd party developers for support.

The first thing Sony has to do, is have these games campatible with PS3's motion controller.

  • Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition (Already for sure)
  • Eye Pet (big hit for small children & big money maker)
  • Flower
  • Little Big Planet
  • Final Fantasy XIII & Versus XIII (Sony demonstrated that its motion controller can be used with RPG games)
  • MLB 10: The Show (Sony already has a patient for a bat sort type peripheral)
  • God Of War III (would fit perfect due to the amount of combos that could be done with motions)
  • Mod Nation Racers (would be Sony's mario kart, plus a huge success)
  • Resistance 3
  • Killzone 3
  • EA Sports Active for PS3 (you know its EA, its going to happen)
  • Own type of fitness game and mini sports games
  • Singstar Michael Jackson (his movie raked in $250m dollars in 3 weeks, his game should do well too)
  • Gran Turismo 5 (the most important one out of all, seems perfect for a wheel type motion peripheral, although this is expected)

The next thing Sony has to do is price the Motion Controller at $59.99, the Natal will cost a lot more looking at Microsofts history at pricing its peripherals.

Market the motion controller like you did with the PS3 Slim, the marketing worked with the slim so why should it not with the motion controller?

Do these things and Sony's motion controller will be a hit. Sony already has a huge advantage with its first/second party line ups, now they have to really push and deliver.

Also to those who think Sony can not afford a huge marketing campaign, look at its stock on yahoo finance, its market value has increased by $1 billion dollars in 2 months time.

Tell me what you guys think. Feel free to tell me any other games that should play a key role in Sony's motion controller, also name any game that you think should not be on the list. Also feel free to to not agree with the article, the more heated the discussion the better.

Around the Network

uh.... they've already lost the battle to Nintendo dood.

^^ur from the future? do you know how well Sony's motion controller will work out?

61 million Wiis, 0 GEM, 0 Natal so far, just math.

The only way Sony can kill Natal is if they pay Gabe Newell to sit on it!

Around the Network

it just needs an air shotgun.

Remove yourself from Nintendo's shaft for a minute and notice the thread has nothing to do with them. This thread is about Sony's motion controller and Natal. NOT the Wii. Take your Wii promotion elsewhere.

OT: They will need a killer app and a big marketting campaign. Something that catches the casual crowd and gets attention on it. 'Cause when Natal releases, you just know that MS will market the nuts off the damn thing.

@dahuman

Way to go to troll. It's like being proud you're number one in a race where you're the only competitor!

While I do not think Sony's motion controller can destroy the market the Wii has created for itself, it won't harm Sony to get in the market as well.

I agree they need a huge marketing campaign for the motion controllers. That's the only way I see the motion controller being at least a moderate success.

@OT:

They have already announced motion control for half the games on that list. Also, I believe the motion controller will be less than 59.99. I think 60 bucks for the motion controller is a bit over the top, especially if they want to compete in an existing market.

uh, he didn't exactly specify, personally I think the PS3 one is better from a gaming point of view, but in the end, it will be the support and advertisement that matter, in that aspect, it's all about who has more hype and long term support, seems like common sense to me.

Didn't specify? "Things Sony's Motion Controller Needs To Kill Natal" isn't specific enough?

The word "Nintendo" or "Wii" isn't mentioned in the entire first post. He is fully focused on what Sony need to beat "Natal". Not Wii, or Wiimote, or anything else like that. The only thing about Nintendo mentioned is how Mod Nation is a Kart game similar to MK.

You came here looking to downplay anything that isn't Nintendo.
