Yep believe it or not the first decade of the XXI century is almost over (Where's my bloody flying car?) anyway there was a lot of great games and a lot of bad games, so I think it'll good to gave our toughts on them (the good ones), during this decade Nintendo has 2 consoles (Gamecube, 2001 and Wii, 2006) and 2 handhelds (Gameboy Advance, 2001 and Nintendo DS, 2004) so instead of making a list just grab a genre of sub-genre and tell us your best game on that category. I'm going to begin with my favorite:

Genre: Survival Horror

Game: Residen Evil REmake (Gamecube, 2002)

This's in my opinions the definitive Resident Evil experience, this game took everything that made the 1996 game a classic and push it to the limit. The atmosphere, the soundtrack, the sound effects with those ominous echoes in the mansion, everything is just great. The control is spot on and the characters are likeable and have a great voice acting (not like the cheese fest in the first version), in general an awesome game with a great challenge if you want to complete everything (those damn suicide zombies), you can get it quite cheap from eBay or get the Archives version for Wii.

Runners Up: Eternal Darkness (Gamecube), Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube, Wii), Silent Hii: Shattered Memories (Wii)

Well handhelds ...... quite honestly don't have a single good survival horror game. Sure there's Resident Evil Deadly Silence (wich is basically the PS game), we've Dementium (Wich is a great game but more shooter focused) and Theresia (great concept and music but it's more an adventure game)

Anyway, post your favorite games and genre because this was quite a good decade for Nintendo consoles.

Action Adventure

Metroid Prime, that was...2002?

It encapsulates everything that made the Metroids series great, and added new things as well. It moves at a perfect pace, areas are rediscovered constantly, and the bosses are truly epic in Metroid fashion.

Runner up- The rest of the Prime series, every Zelda game in the last decade, Okami

Platformer

Super Mario Galaxy

It captures the imagination and stretches the perception of what the genre could be.

Runners up - New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, de Blob

Fighting:
Super Smash Bros Melee. I would like to take a poll sometime in my lifetime, and try to figure out if that game has the most logged cumulative multiplayer hours of any game ever. It would definitely be up there.

Real Time Strategy:

Pikmin 2

This is my favorite game ever made. It had fun characters and great gameplay. It was very creative and was a huge step up from the 1st game.

The only other R.T.S game that I have ever liked was Pikmin(1)

Adventure: Zelda TP

I'm going to say Metroid Prime series 1 and 3 is probably the best games I've played from Nintendo in a good while. A long with Galaxy, Brawl..Now that I think about it who are the morons saying Nintendo doesn't look after the Core gamer?

New Super Mario Bros Wii - Plataformer

This game is bringing Mario and Nintendo back to its former glory, i think its the best game of the decade, why? simply its insanely fun, it has great multiplayer, its not a movie trying to be a game, or a game trying to be a move its just a GAME!

Pikmin (1) - RTS

I have to disagree, Pikmin is the best strategy game ive played since Starcraft and AoE, it does something completely unique and it brings a lot of content to the tabe, in my humble opinion Pikmin 2 killed part of the game, it simply isnt as good as Pikmin 1

Tactical RPG

Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn

These games blew me away! I hadn't had much interest in this genre before playing them and I hadn't been doing much gaming for a few years but these games single handedly reignited my passion.

Radiant Dawn's low Gameranking's score (sub 80%) is the greatest injustice dished out to any Wii game in my opinion. The story was incredibly involving and the surprises it serves you were very clever if you've played the first game. I have no idea why people complained about the difficulty, it felt easier to me that Path of Radiance.

In summary: These two games are definitely Some of Nintendo's best of the last decade. I see them as one unit because they essentially keep the same formula and the second's storyline really relies on you knowing the first.
