Forums - Nintendo - No 3rd party games for Wii in 2010? I think not.

Naruto 3 has bombed catastrophically, it was supposed to be one of the best ones yet, it was the 10th or 20th anniversary edition. You know nothing about Japan, so better research before posting.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

it's not that there is no 3rd party games on the wii, it's the fact that by comparison it feels like there is no 3rd party games on wii because the PS3 and 360 simply have so much 3rd part games coming out...all I have to say that if ya only own a wii then ya missing so much great 3rd party games which are coming out on the other 2 consoles.

TBH I can barely cope with all my Wii games, so for now I've got no desire to buy another console. In the future, maybe...

fair enough, I suppose my taste in games are different to yours, or perhaps my standards are different because I've been exposed to HD games, but when I look a the land scape of wii games, there is barely anything that interests me, No more heroes was one I was interested in but I'll be getting the PS3 version if the port ends up being decent, The conduit was another game, but when I saw some gameplay footage...well I saw better FPS on the PS3 so by comparison there was no interest investing in the game, especially when the online is so much better on the PS3 than the wii, love playing online, and in case you interested, yes I do actually own a wii, got it free when I bought my TV via a promotion, but like I said, just different tastes.

dont indulge or dare thinking the exposure to HD changes standarts. My standarts should be astronomic, since i played HD before this gen and still do as well.I still purchase more games for the wii than i can keep up with-2 a month-.Enjoying Uncharted doesnt makes me enjoy No More heroes one bit less. The HD doesnt changes standarts , it doesnt makes games more fun. You got a wii, no games for it, what did you expect?it to entertain it by talking to you? HD unfortunately, does nothing to make a game be better-except visually-.Or even more inmersive. So you might honestly have ..lower standarts. Since all you care is the pixel output, you might be now unable to notice the true gaming elements underneath.i repeat, if you just lately began to play HD games, with the current generation, instead of a long time ago like me-xbox-pc, you might think is new and therefore, better. But it isnt much really.

i dont think first of all, the time is long enough to declare bombs or not.And thats still irrelevant. You claimed wohoo ,namco announced a naruto for ps360-example of semi big effort.Well, Wii got a  Naruto just weeks ago.Bomb or not., only for NA market and only for wii, not even multiplat.Example served.Bomb?i dont care.its there. Is here, in America

Japan is not the world. Is this thread about japan only?are we gonna nitpick like that ?

I was talking about Japan so if you are going to quote me, it's better if you read the post, not just nitpick what you like about it.

well you said Naruto Shippuden 3, an ONLY american game, bombed catastrophically. It sold 120k in less than a month and its selling on par with Naruto Shippuden 2 from 2009. So i was quoting you properly, but it was you confusing Dragon Chronicles with NS3. Anyway, im guessing that namco will bring dragon chronicles to US to recoup losses like some games had to do.Which in the end, brings us more choices of games.Which is in the end, the point of this thread.

The game was released on Nov. 26th in Japan. It's not Naruto 3 btw, I was talknig about the anniversary Naruto game. Naruto 3 also sold poorly on the Wii in Japan.

well you said "Naruto 3 has bombed catastrophically, it was supposed to be one of the best ones yet, it was the 10th or 20th anniversary edition. You know nothing about Japan, so better research before posting." so thats why i thought you meant NS3 .

Also, every Naruto Shippuden game has sold way less than the american version on the wii. For instance, Naruto Shippuden 2 on US sold over 300k, and only 70k in Japan. Same applies for Naruto Shippuden 1. NA buys more of Naruto than Japan. And it appears still to be decent money, because we keep getting those sequels year after year. And it looks, so far, we will.

In my opinion, I feel the Wii is not going to have a strong third party year like 2009. But that's just because I'm not seeing much coming I like. But partially, its also because of what some people are saying that most third parties have just already seemingly made up their mind and just aren't supporting the Wii as it is. And next year doesn't seem to be changing that. The same third parties have announced new games for the Wii. And no new third parties have announced any projects in the works. So there's nothing really to look forward to aside from 'more of the same'.

And if that's the case, 'more of the same' is one good game every 2-3 months. VS on the HD consoles where they get multiple good games a month.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I don't want to go into a list wars, but yea there is some support.
Sega, Ubisoft, and Capcom have some good to great stuff planned. The rest from Destineer, 505 Games, and Southpeak Interactive are shovelware.

Konami is releasing yet ANOTHER Dance Dance Revolution....

They tend to do that yearly.  It isn't a Wii thing either.

3rd party lineup is awesome for 2010, at least in terms of localizations.

Things do seem like they're drying up a bit in Japan, but we're probably good for at least few more big surprises (MH3G, DQ7 remake, Inazuma 11 Break, etc). Weirdly, Japan's really solidified behind WiiWare though, much moreso than XBLA or PSN.
