So I am on the market for a budget HDD and I was wondering which one would be the most reliable. I would need it as a system drive, not just storage. I heard the new WD Green drives have problems when used as systems drive, or really as anything other than pure storage. So any recommendations? I'm looking around for a 750-1TB drive.

My other question was about TV Tuners. Are they worth it if you have a big enough screen and do they work well?

Last question. What would be a nice sound card? I haven't followed sound cards in a while, preferrbly the inerface should be differet than the TV Tuner (PCI or PCIe x1).

For HDDs, I always go with Caviar Blacks.

Have the Blacks been reliable to you? I heard the Greens have problems and stuff.

My Caviar Green has been giving me trouble, been meaning to take it out and try it in my enclosure to see if it's motherboard-related or the HDD itself.

Caviar Blues are good too, but for the little bit of extra money, better off getting a Black.

What about Samsung Seagates and Hitachis? Are they any good? I've never had a large system HDD before...

idk, never looked at them. Caviar Blacks are fine.
