Sounds like a good addition to the site, I have too much on my plate to participate in something like this but I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding suitable Sony leaning members.

...

I really like the idea of a podcast. If you can pull it off, you got yourself a loyal viewer right here!

Yes. I can watch a podcast. It's one of my many super-powers.

I support this initiative 100%.

After the NVC fiasco, I think podcasting would be better among the gamers themselves as opposed whining, bitter, and enraged "journalist" who troll and insult their audience just for hits.

I volunteer to participate too, if you guys would have me.

Because there are no whining, bitter and enraged gamers who spew insults?

The VGChartz members that would be participating in this are above all that.

I know that,  just like there are gaming journalists that are above it as well.  But people only tend to focus on the ones who are controversial.

Well, the OP used NVC as an example.  I only piggybacked that notion.  So why are you getting on me?

And to be quite honest, I don't know of any good podcasts.  All the ones I used to listen to have gone to shit or don't exist anymore.

Sure why not, if you can pull it off..

I'd like to participate.

I have a few ideas as well.
1. We could discuss gaming music and play clips of our favourites... I'm talking about going right back to Commodore 64 music (seeing as the SID chip is STILL awesome)

2. We could talk about lapsed gamers coming back to the 'hobby' and what it was that drew them back.

3. We could do genre specific chats - greatest platformers; biggest leap forward moments discussion.

There's loads of stuff that could go on without it sounding like fanboy ranting. That would be very boring.

Yes.

www.spacemag.org - contribute your stuff... satire, comics, ideas, debate, stupidy stupid etc.

It would depend how open the participants are allowed to be.

That IGN podcast had a lot of fair criticisms but nearly everyone in the thread tried to dismis the entire thing as trolling due to only one or two things that may have been out of line. If gonna be filled with people of that mentality then it would hold no interest.

Some part of me thinks I'm going to regret this, but:

What would you be looking for in a podcast, exactly?

I think it's a good idea but not sure if I'd want to participate myself actually.

How about a Tales of Episode?

Usual podcast type of stuff mostly.

Discuss the news/events/releases/announcments since the previous podcast.   It is just the tone of it that interests me more, if gonna be one big praise-athon with everything then I see it as something false.  If it would include people who aren't afraid to say "I think this sucks" (with a good reason obviously, baseless dislike is just as bad as empty praise) then it is much more interesting/entertaining to listen to.

I would hope that we are able to maintain an appropriate critical tone, but don't expect vitriol - vitriol just ain't getting on here.
