Forums - Nintendo - Cel Shaded Link

I've got to agree with what's been said - Wind Waker is still one of the best looking games today.

It really depends what the game aims for. The Twilight Princess look is better for a more "serious" Zelda, while Wind Waker is best for fun & jokes (and child Link).

My only issue with the game is Ganondorf - he looks terrible! His face looks too silly and he can hardly be taken seriously, as opposed to him in Twilight Princess, where he's a complete badass.

My sentiments are quite the opposite - Ganondorf is just about the only character whose design I am fully content with. I love the idea behind TWW's visuals, but sadly, I can't say the same about the style itself.

And I second the notion that people need to learn the difference between a cartoon and children's entertainment. Not everything animated is a cartoon, and not every cartoon is aimed at children. TWW, for the most part, is not cartoon-like, so I see no point referring to it as such.

I like the cel shaded look of WW more than the 'realistic' look of the other 3d Zelda (and better than the DS games), but I don't mind the realistic look. I'm more concerned with it becoming more 'epic' (= more story, more cutscenes, more things that stand in the way of gameplay) which was one reason why I liked TP less than any other Zelda.

Nintendo needs to get with Sega and use the art style of Valkyria Chronicles. That would please everybody.

What do you think about Cel Shaded Zelda games, I think they are cool.

..oh wait.

just kidding, it looked, and it still looks great.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

I respectfully disagree! Shit, the "I coveted that wind" moment alone...

While I think that would be wonderful, we both know that the same people who call TWW "kiddy" would be back in full force.  Personally, I have found that most of the hardcore Zelda fans have come around to seeing the brilliance of TWW, while its the fair weather fans who claim cell shading to be the devil.

ganondorf looked kinda cool when you could only see his back...

Ohoo, I expected you to comment eventually!

I just realized it may not be only his face, but, the fact that he's uh... overweight? He could probably use a better outfit, too.

[Wind Waker Ganon]

As opposed to the awesome shown below:

[TP Ganon]

This is a fair point given that he's wearing flowing robes and whatnot, but he's not actually overweight, he's just enormous. When he movs it's easy to tell that most of the bulk is on his chest, as if he was as cartoonishly muscular as OoT Ganondorf just in a different style.

I liked his robes!

Of course I really liked Twilight Princess's version of him, too.

Something about Wind Waker Ganon's personality and expressions made him stand out for me, though.

No question that TP Ganon was the best at wrecking shit, I will allow.

When I was fighting ganon for the first time... he scared the living beep out of me! He really is big and his fighting was weird as in going really fast and jumping places to places if I remeber correctly...
