As i read it the TT demo does however showcase the physics, not the graphics etc. But how the car handles and feels is the same as the one in the GT5 game. And THAT's what im ranting about..

It's not the physics and car handling that suck, it's you. Learn to play it properly then come back and complain if you must.

How can i play it inproperly? And what am i doing wrong if i get screeching tires at low speed and spinning around at speed below 40mph? Its not even possible in real life. Definitive racing simulation my behind.

Not even possible in real life? Not with a car that barely has any power, correct. But if you take that care for a drive on the ice, than you have the same result. Your tires can't get grip so your car spins, even when driving below 40mph. It's the same thing as driving with a really powerfull car on asphalt and putting too much power on your tires than they can handle, even when standing still.

Sure.. i understand. So how would you recommend me to slowly accelerate in-game? Push down my X button gently 1/4 of the way until i gain what speed? And then continue on to 2/4 of the way?

What? Are you serious? The best racing sim on the planet only has a gas pedal that is either floored or not being touched at all? That can't be right.

Like someone else said, to play GT5 with a steering wheel is probably the best way to do it, but it works fine for me with the DualShock. Yes, my tires are screeching as well, but only when i make a mistake and am trying to leave a corner too quickly or something. SO yes, you're right, you should push the x button gently at first. You can also try to configure your Dualshock so that you use the triggers, R2 to accelerate, L2 to break. That's how i do it, i prefer that to X and square.

Well i do however drive in real life.. and i do however use my common sense when i say that you don't get screeching tires from going 40mph. Stop being an ass.

Screeching tires doesn't have anything to do with how fast your car is moving, that's the mistake you're making. Your tires are screeching when you put too much power on your car and tires than they can handle. The result is that your tires can't get grip, thus they make a screeching sound. It's the same thing that happens in corners when your car has overstear, which causes your car to drift. That may be due to the lack of downforce or the tires itself of course.

What??? ofcourse is does!! it's just not the only factor, but it definetly is an important one. I mean try getting screeching tires when your going 5 miles a hour.

I don't know everything about cars, so i might be wrong, but as far as i know it has nothing to do with how fast your car is moving. For example: Give a formula 1 car the shittiest tires on the planet and put ALL the power the car has on the tires to accelerate when you're standing still. The car definitely won't get any grip so it will drift, correct? So, as far as i know it has everything to do with power and grip, nothing with how fast your car is moving.

Well you can leave it out of the equation, but that doesn't mean speed has nothing to do with it.

A rant..

How the hell can this be a simulation game when you get screeching tires á Hollywood going 40mph and spinning around in a slight left turn?. If this is how the Nissan handles they should recall all units due to risk of fatal crashes. And at certain points not being able to do a turn and still have the animation doing a full whatever-direction-turn with the steering wheel. This was by far the most atrocious game demo i've ever played.

I never play car games, GRID being the only one, but i had high hopes for this GT demo, seeing as its been hyped as a franchise and IGN saying PD have outdone themselves. But damn.. i did 2 laps, quit, deleted the game and the "maybe"-purchase of GT5 is now at a "hell-the-fudge-no!"-level.

..end rant.

Actually it's true. I understand your thoughts. I own a Nissan 350 z Racing model and i must say that these racing "simulators" don't seem to act real at all. Even in Forza, Tried the Nissan on there and it didn't handle ANYTHING like in real life. Some real life simulators. Completely misleading games Imo.

I think you should try the non professional physics in Prologue or wait for the full GT5.

Btw take your car at 40mph on a roundabout and there you go, Hollywood.

seems like people didnt actually read the ign preview. cough * stekstav* cough

Granted, the game is locked to the Professional driving setting, so these characteristics and more "demanding" steering input may be lessened in the Standard setting in the final version, but I honestly couldn't see myself going back at this point. In the past, Professional always seemed to be a bigger challenge and more realistic, but I'm not sure that, for me, it was more fun on a core level than the Standard setting. Now, however, I'm definitely sticking with Polyphony's physics tour-de-force as it now feels as fun as it does challenging.

All the buttons on the PS3 (and PS2 for that matter) are pressure sensitive, so yes, gently push on X. Or, if I remember rightly, you can use the right analog stick to accelerate and brake.

Seriosuly, I can't believe you started a thread just to rant that a racing game set on professional physics with all assists off was too hard for you. If you're that bothered download the GT-HD concept track and put it to standard physics with all the assists on. This "demo" was designed as a competition for people who might actually be able to race professionally, (and one of the designers has participated in a number of racing events). Not for newcomers.

Isn't GT demo called Prologue? I mean, I was under the impression that piece of sw was apretty close to what the final game would be and therefore should be used as reference. Not the recent demo.

Also if you look at the car options you can tweek the traction control settings if you are having trouble with the handling, this may also affect the speed.
