Mario brothers has been around in some form or fashion since 1980, call of duty since what 2003. What a fair comparison.

It, to me at least, just underscores how well 3rd party titles are doing on the PS/360 compared to their wii counterparts, most 3rd party developers would die to have the numbers that COD is running emulated on the wii.

Nice spin. Apparently Nintendo's ability to keep Mario relevant for so long makes its sales to any IP an "unfair comparison." Let me ask you this, do you think Call of Duty will be more popular in 15 years, than Mario is now?

I have a more direct comparison in mind - what was Modern Warfare 2's budget compared to NSMB Wii?

That's not a fair question. You know that Nintendo was very lazy with NSMB Wii. I heard that a team of twelve people made the game in nine months.

I'm sorry, but I require a source. That would mean the game, which was playable (including the later stages) at the time, had only been in development for a few months prior to its announcement. Excuse me if I don't believe this for a second.

And how was Nintendo "lazy" with NSMB Wii?

Sony and MS' would love to have sales of the 1st party games have numbers that NSMBWii is running emulated on their systems on the other hand.

In an attempt to counter me you wrote your sentence kinda quick and it doest make sense considering that Sony has Gran Turismo and Microsoft has Halo, both multimillion selling franchises, both first party both emulated on their respective system.  Try again.

You're new here, so you should know rol likes to be sarcastic and ironic about things like this. So do I from time to time.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

When does it outsell the PS3 period?

I vote for the next two weeks.

If the sales of next week are similar to this week, it could be just one week. So I say either one or two.

4. It would be more comparable to compare both HD versions to Mario as the userbases are closer and Activision gets money from both versions. Lifetime, it'll be a close batte I think.

We should combine the DS version of NSMB with the Wii version as Nintendo gets money from both versions and many core gamers say NSMB Wii is simply a port of the DS version anyways.

Woah! 25 million copies sold! It's beating MW2 by a landslide.

Just kidding. It'll be close. Both games will make tons of money nonetheless.

You just got played.

To prevent this from happening in the future, whenever you see a thread or post by Rol, just remember one simple phrase: you can't spell troll without rol.

Anyway...a summation of the events leading up to this thread:

Reggie: "New Super Mario Bros. Wii will deliver."

Geoff: "U THINK IT OUTSELL MODENR WARFARE 2?? MAKE A BET!"

Reggie: "It should outsell at least one version by January's NPD results."

Geoff: "THREEEEE SIXTYYYYYY!!!"

Internet: "OMG REGGIE u R SO STUPID AND OBNOXNIOUS TO CREATE THIS BET MODERN WARFAER IS GOIGN TO PWN MARIOOO!!"

Modern Warfare 2 does not pwn Mario after all.

Thread: "Reggie is about to win the bet."

Sony crowd: "LOL this is so unfair mario is huge u should stop putting it up against little ole modern warfare if u r comparing them ps3 mw2 must be huuuge and spectacular to come close but it doesnt matte because legendary mario shouldn't be compared to mw2 is too big kay"

I like writing stuff like this

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

On topic (for once): NSMB Wii is only 2.4m behind MW2 (360) with seven weeks to go. Is that impossible?

In any case, I think it's going to be close once we get January NPD. And the people who are/were laughing at Reggie don't/didn't expect a close outcome, but rather a landslide victory for MW2.

Pretty much. MW2 is tracking around CoD:WaW, which did near 1.2mil more by the end of Jan.

That means NSMB Wii needs to do at least 3.4mil more until then. A million or so is as close as NSMB Wii can hope to get (which is still probably a smaller gap than people expected). It'll likely take as long as May for it to catch up (MW2 will be 6.5-7mil in America by then).
