This has nothing to do with making a system look better than the other. This is about a bet that Reggie made with the guy that host the Game Trailers televisison show.  Members of VGChartz decided to make a thread about this bet. Some members believed that New Super Mario Bros. would sale better than Modern Warfare others did not especially after the first day sales of Mordern Warfare 2. Now members have been keeping track of the sales of both games to see who will win the bet. This is no different than the "Will the PS3 reach 5 million before the Wii reaches 10 million" bet. Neither bet is designed to make one console look bad. This is a sales site and these kinds of bets promote interest in the site for some.

Backing out? "we" didnt make this. Reggie did. That guy just spoke just before Reggie said an affirmative word in no relation to that guy's comment. That was the guy trying to rig the bet, when Reggie was very clear.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Mario brothers has been around in some form or fashion since 1980, call of duty since what 2003. What a fair comparison.

It, to me at least, just underscores how well 3rd party titles are doing on the PS/360 compared to their wii counterparts, most 3rd party developers would die to have the numbers that COD is running emulated on the wii.

It's about Reggie's declaration nearly coming to pass. And the PC version is the worst selling version of MW2 (assuming you forgot to qualify which MW game).

Sony and MS' would love to have sales of the 1st party games have numbers that NSMBWii is running emulated on their systems on the other hand.

Nice spin. Apparently Nintendo's ability to keep Mario relevant for so long makes its sales to any IP an "unfair comparison." Let me ask you this, do you think Call of Duty will be more popular in 15 years, than Mario is now?

I have a more direct comparison in mind - what was Modern Warfare 2's budget compared to NSMB Wii?
