LOL I doubt theres a JRPG than can take out Mass Effect 2 next year. It's just a dominant RPG as is.

The only WRPG that could outsell FF13 is Diablo 3. Which will sell massive numbers and have stupidly long legs like all Blizzard games do.
Mass Effect has no competition and even if it did the only thing that could stand in its way is FFXIII

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
Sorry, but I don't see much of a headache from FF13...

Final Fantasy XIII may have something to say about that young man!

Sorry to spoil it for you dude, but there are a million reasons why Mass Effect and FF are completely different games.
The fact that in FF you level up, doesn't make it an RPG at least the way ME is.
ME has to do with decisions, big diversity in gameplay according to which character you choose, evolution of the character him (or her) self,
and BIG replayability.
I don't see where all these fit in FF...
what competition? this is going to be an awesome game.
i think the only game is going to have a competition to it would be dragon age DLC
- Wasteland - The Mission.
| coolbeans said: @shio Is the Witcher: Enhanced Edition the normal version or something, if so then yes I've found it but these mags from european based sites have anything from "Bronze Award" s to "Game of the Year" that was hard to sort through but, not to be too harsh, if you're counting second-rate gaming sites that hardly anyone has ever heard of then yes The Witcher possibly did receive more awards then Mass Effect. There again, pretty much all of Mass Effect awards were limited to bigger american mags and sites with a few big european sites as well then shifting to metacritic scores (91%) and I saw The Witcher's average is 82%. |
While I agree with your oppinion about which game is better (I'm too fan of BioWare and Mass Effect series), bashing non american gaming sites for the fact that you can't understand them / know nothing about them, doesn't make them 2nd rate. They might have more readers than your mag of choice and better, unbiased reviewers, which are not getting payed for scores.
We have 2 big gaming magazines over here, which both hand out realy harsh reviews (you thought EDGE were though...) and hold high standarts. I'd take their score over anything from the web anyday, since they are critical, when it's due.
MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising
best game to ever come out of their studios did he say? wow, thats a big statement - i'm currently playing dragons age and thats goty for me personally.
Bioware have really stepped up to the plate this gen and have blown me out of the water personally - cant wait for this game, i've actually taken the day off work on it's release day and will not put it down.

Of course Diablo 3 will outsell FF13, although Diablo 3 probably won't come out in 2010. But it won't be the only 2010 RPG to outsell FF13 - WoW: Cataclysm should sell more too.

As others have pointed out: The Witcher 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Final Fantasy XIII and Alpha Protocol. Then there's Guild Wars 2, All Point Bulletin and Star Wars: The Old Republic. And a small chance Diablo 3 may still come in 2010.
