Forums - Nintendo - Positive FFCC: The Crystal Bearers review

Feels like it's only Wii games that get mixed reviews.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Eh, not exclusively. Assassin's Creed 1 got hammered by some places. Mirror's Edge got that too.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, both Mirrors Edge and Assassins Creed had subpar combat mechanics and repetitive gameplay. Bad enough Mirrors Edge was pretty short (~6.5 hours). The only thing remotely significant about either title was the presentation.

Between the good looking screens, and the idea of more of an adventure-style FF game, I'll give this game a shot. Hopefully I get at least $100 in gift cards to Best Buy or someplace similiar.

I still stand by my belief that reviews will destroy this game entirely. Watch how everyone is going to bitch just because its not a standard RPG and its final metascore is going to end up in the mid-low 70's because of it. I reckon Gamespot will give it a 6.0 give or take, and watch when RPGamer get their hands on this one, oh boy oh boy.

How technical is your game?

This game isn't even FF in blood...

This game is a joke. A bad joke.

Nintendo Power gave this an 8 too.

I suspect that reviewers who review this game for what it is - action/adventure/sandbox really appreciate it but those reviewers who judge it for what it's not - RPG, or even FF:CCish score it poorly.

Personally this will be the first FF game I've owned as I'm not a fan of JRPGs but this sounds great.

It won't be just the reviewers who are judging the game like this, it's the fans. I know a few people who loved the original Crystal Chronicles games and refuse to buy this one because it's not a dungeon crawling RPG. They respect the game for what it is, but do not find it interesting or feel it should even be called a Crystal Chronicles title.

It's all well and good that the game is good, but I question its mass market appeal. In the end, sales will suffer more from lack of appeal than a low metacritic review score. It's eery how this is true for most 3rd party Wii titles.

I got the game today at my local GS. Enjoying it a lot so far. Graphics are really great and the areas are huge. But indeed, it is more like Zelda than FF, which is a good thing in my book.

man i'm so depressed to see how all is going for this game. From what I'm seeing, it is really an AAA title in the veins of Zelda that should easily sell a million, but everything is going against this game so far. Of course SE made a lot of faults, but reviews are making things even worse.
