Anyone whom agrees with this topic is arrogant. Anyone whom doesnt understand why is ignorant.
I mean no personal attack and I will explain what I mean.
To presume to tell others that a game genre they enjoy is less worthy than another is pretty arrogant. It comes from a belief that your own tastes are somehow superior to others. People who believe that their tastes are more refined decide that the shooter genre is a less worthy pursuit of entertainment and then they stand up in the clouds like Zues and throw lightning bolts down at those whom don't agree with them.
It is also pretty ignorant because the market decides how the distribution of game releases is made. If shooters are more popular then they deserve more releases and if your favourite genre is less popular then it deserves fewer releases. Just because a game is released doesn't make it an affront to anyone personally. Games pretty much sell what they deserve to sell with only a few exceptions. Yes its quite likely that people enjoy Wii Fit or Halo or Gran Turismo more than your X game flavour of the week.
Edit: I've thought about this further and I want to clarify and explain my position some more.
I feel that theres a strong undercurrent of arrogant stances amongst otherwise normal posters on vgchartz. Im not calling them arrogant people but the stances they hold are arrogant and presumptuous. People like to make the assumption that because they do not personally find certain games, consoles or genres appealing personally that the people who like those games have a less relevant opinion than their own. Just look at how Wii xxx game or the Wii console gets treated and its so starkly clear that its blinding!
The game developers work for the people who like to play games. If they do a good job then they get paid and they get to make more games in the same genre if they so choose. The developers whom are working to create FPS or TPS games are NOT WORKING FOR YOU, they are working for people whom do like the games. If you don't like that there are a lot of FPS games being made then you can probably just go to hell really as its got nothing to do with you. If you want to do something proactive then buy games in genres that you do like and act as an emissary like CGI_Quality does with Heavy Rain and see if you can get others to do the same.
Im sorry if you find my statements harsh, but I feel I have to be to get my point across and I absolutely don't mean to attack on anyone personally its just the behaviour which I find gross and appalling.
