Forums - Sony - Blu-ray 3D specifications finalized, your PS3 is ready

Surely 100hz and 120hz tv's will only need a quick firmware update to be able to recieve higher than 60hz signals. One would expect calculating moving objects and creating an extra frame is harder than just displaying the extra frame recieved.

I'm not buying a new tv any time soon.

Sounds cool, but if a new TV is needed it may be awhile for me, just bought a new TV and I love it, 46 inch LG LCD LED 240 htz 1080P. Its a amazing TV not buying a new one anytime soon. Playing video games on this TV then my Yamaha 7.1 receiver sounds amazing , It truly is an experience better then the movie theater. The sub you have really makes a big difference on your full range sound.

Bring it on!! I'm psyched for 3D to take off at home with movies and games. I'm saving up for a new 3D HDTV now. If OLED HDTV was in larger sizes and affordable though I would be faced with a tough choice.

3D OLED anyone?

HDTV's hardly took of with a bang straight away.
As long as this keeps making inroads and starts to show profits then there's no reason to not keep plugging away with it.
Sure a lot have people have decided it's crap and wont work and they don't want it but there's also a lot that do want this.
All thses 3d films that have been made or being made can finally be released for sale and shown as they were meant to be. The studios need to get behind this now as they already have the content and can make some more cash of their films.
Now I finally have a reason to by a Blu-Ray player just have to wait to know which one's are compatible.

PS3?

Just for Blu-ray? I'm not made of money.

Zero interest in it's exclusives and I'm getting to old to be owning every console each gen. Plus I'd rather have a dedicated stand alone player than use a games console. If I had a console and didn't buy any games or too few games for it it would seem like a waste of it's features.

Or was that an admission that the PS3 is a blu-ray player with a games console tacked on?

Me.

As soon as OLED 3d TV's are cheap enough for me I'll get one.

Bought a 40" full HD tv about 3 years ago for a grand so need to get my moneys worth out of that first before upgrading.

Hopefully that'll be around the time OLED's are in my price range.

Why i need a 120hz LCD?

BD movies are currently 24hz....the 3D ones will be 120hz? Why not 48hz? This causes headaches?

And games....a game needs to be in 120fps(60fps in 3D) to not cause headaches? Why not in 60fps(30fps in 3d) that most games do?

And the Plasmas Tvs....I bought one that say that it is 480hz and has 0,001ms. The refresh rate of Plasmas are very very high. But 3D will not work on my Tv?

That's what I've thought. Games need a higher framerate films don't

There must be a reason for it. Whatever reason they've decided you need 120hz and we have to make do.

It was a tease.  But not of the 'come hither' variety!  I'd check carefully for any new BR players to make sure they really, really have the right firmware, etc.  My brother got one and promptly had to swap it when it turned out it wasn't going to be able to play all disks with the new standard.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Haha. That's good.

But your second reply wasn't a come hither tease is it?
No? ok good. Just checking.

Will definitely do my research. And if it's inconclusive I'll just get a PS3.

Just to check you aren't 'making me an offer' are you?
No? ok good just checking.
