HDTV's hardly took of with a bang straight away.
As long as this keeps making inroads and starts to show profits then there's no reason to not keep plugging away with it.
Sure a lot have people have decided it's crap and wont work and they don't want it but there's also a lot that do want this.
All thses 3d films that have been made or being made can finally be released for sale and shown as they were meant to be. The studios need to get behind this now as they already have the content and can make some more cash of their films.
Now I finally have a reason to by a Blu-Ray player just have to wait to know which one's are compatible.

PS3?

Just for Blu-ray? I'm not made of money.

Zero interest in it's exclusives and I'm getting to old to be owning every console each gen. Plus I'd rather have a dedicated stand alone player than use a games console. If I had a console and didn't buy any games or too few games for it it would seem like a waste of it's features.

Or was that an admission that the PS3 is a blu-ray player with a games console tacked on?

It was a tease.  But not of the 'come hither' variety!  I'd check carefully for any new BR players to make sure they really, really have the right firmware, etc.  My brother got one and promptly had to swap it when it turned out it wasn't going to be able to play all disks with the new standard.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
