Forums - Sales - FF XIII shipment is 1.8 mil - Confirmed

That...could be very bad news.

Around the Network

Well the Monster Hunter 3 game only SKU had some pretty quick pricedrops but those were a few days not actually on the day.

Personally I think this is just an overreaction and really we don't have enough details yet to really make any kind of assumption about this. One piece of evidence is nice but never confirms anything beyond a possibility... which doesn't go for much. I mean I do think 1.8 million is a little high and I'm sure given the FF brand SE was able to "stuff the market" a little bit with the game but we have nothing to confirm such an extreme yet or that this "first day" pricedrop is even widespread or if it means anything.

I say we just not speculate over things that don't mean anything and simply wait til Friday for first day sales or Wednesday/Thursday for first week sales. Until then this is all speculation out of nothing simply for the sake of discussing it. If you over talk anything you can make it seem bad or good. Hell people did it to Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2 so let's not do it to Final Fantasy XIII. Let's just go off clear and finite evidence and discuss that.

One gaf member is reporting price drop and tons of copies not sold in his store.

That sounds... ridiculious.

A price drop... already?

I mean... wait a day?

he has a receipt too.

There could some meltdown tomorrow.

You could photoshop such a thing... or it could of just been a deal to bring people to that particular store.

I mean...  has anyone ever dropped sales day 1 before?

Gaf believes SE overshiped and there is no way the PS3  can ever sell 1.8 million anytime soon.

the receipt looks real, i have never heard of price drop so early.

Do you have a link to the thread.  That just seems... crazy.  I mean, even if you had so many... how mad are the people who waited in line going to be when they find out they could of NOT waited in line... got the game CHEAPER and the same day.

I mean... there is plenty of time for pricecuts.

Depends on how steep the price drop is. I know Amazon is always selling games for a certain % off on release day.

there seem to be a huge issue over the reason why hardcore games not having legs in Japan, which seems to due to used copies being sold at a much lower price, so most hard core users avoid buying the game at first then buy it used 10 days later thus killing the sale numbers.

They're also saying that several stores were having price wars over the game in that thread, which often happens with big launches.

Here is a joke:
When PS3 was sold in 2006,a retailer wrote on his BOLG that PS3’s broken rate is 25%,as his store just sold out 4 PS3,and 1 was broken.
So, there coms to pricecuts? Maybe...

These guys over there are having serious issue accepting the PS3 can actually sell  1.8 million copies of this, it almost seems they think after the first week, no one is going to buy this game.

Well I got MW2 and AC2 for $39.99 brand new at launch, maybe it's the same there, some stores selling it cheaper than the main retailers.

Apparently, the guy bought the game for 8300 yen. That's hardly a huge price drop at all.
