FF will at least sell 3x what NSMB wii sells this week so i know it's not an accurate gauge of the market. It is interesting how low the price is on there though, 7300 yen is almost as low as NSMB wii.

Also interesting is the fact that I just looked up FFXIII on Amazon Japan.

Quick summary of the actual FFXIII listing on amazon.jp:

Only 3 left in stock--order soon.

Price: ¥ 11,200 (Tax Included)

Amazon.co.jp Sales Rank: #1 in ゲーム (See Bestsellers in ゲーム)

They just raised the price, it was 9000 a minute ago.

How much is it suppose to be?

Can't help but notice the hypocrisy. When the PS3 slim released and we saw topics concerning the "huge increases" on Amazon but when it is the opposite here there is a problem. Now it doesn't take a really smart man to see a problem here.

First things first, Amazon isn't a way to justify an entire market's current state. However, the creator isn't trying to say that. All it is pointing out is that on Amazon Mario is higher than FF13 and it is quite shocking. Actually I find it quite shocking too.

Creator isn't making any truth claims are anything... not like that of the PS3 slim threads which was trying to base Amazon increases to justify the entire market. Hell who cares if the PS3 Slim actually did amazing, that doesn't mean your justification of Amazon was logical.

Point being here is this is a sales site and he is bringing us some data while staying within the limits of the data that is being presented. I see only assumptions from posters while nothing wrong with the thread or creator at all. Actually it is simply a copy and paste from gonintendo. Stop with the FF13 damage control because there is no damage to be controlled here anyways. I've stated this for a month now and I hope people are listening, don't turn FF13 into another MGS4 or KZ2 because I will not appreciate it in the least. As I said in another topic, we don't have any finite or strong data to make any claims about how FF13 is selling right now... but that also doesn't mean things like this can't be posted especially with such a modest take on it.

To comment on the thread, this is quite surprising. Not much you can go with the data obviously considering it is just Amazon, but it is weird.

@Zucas

You may want to read the last few posts, you're a bit late to the party.

Regarding the rest of your post, I don't spend that much time here, but I don't think I've ever seen an amazon thread on VGC that didn't mention baby seals, baby. It's pretty standard procedure, no?

Another update: they seem to be out of stock for the next week (usually ships in 5 to 9 days, it says). They've also lowered the price back to the original amazon price from the exorbitant amount they were charging.

looks like it is in stock and selling at 7300 yen to me...i see people talking about higher prices but it's the same as it was last night from what i see.

Read that again, would you? :)

The price was raised when the game was in stock, as you can see in the posts above...  I copy and pasted it directly from the amazon webpage a few hours ago.  The price was then lowered back to its original level once they sold out, also several hours ago.  They are still sold out, until the 22nd.
*edit*
The game is still number one on amazon, despite being sold out for several hours.

When the price goes up like that it is NOT being sold by Amazon directly, but from Independent Sellers (just like the Amazon Marketplace on the US Amazon site). Amazon's price usually stays about the same, but when they are out of stock then one of the independent sellers who has the game in stock, their price shows up as the main price since Amazon doesn't have stock of it. It is not Amazon who is raising the price, they probably have one of the lower prices on the game actually (compared to regular retail stores)

It is not damage control to make fun of Amazon sales data, it's the way of VGC.  Amazon sales data is meaningless in so many ways, and people even came forward with reasons for why it is below beyond just "omg NSMBW is crazy awesome".  Don't get on people for doing the same thing that happens in every Amazon sales data thread ever, ever.

Actually, if memory serves correctly, it said shipped and sold by Amazon.  However, I didn't copy and paste that part, and in truth I'm not 100% percent sure, because I did check the page several times and I could be getting them confused.  It doesn't seem too far fetched that Amazon Japan might operate slightly different from the US, though, does it?
