Forums - Sony - Which is more powerful? The PSP or the IPHONE?

I have been hearing a lotta good things about the Iphone recently and I saw some games on there like need for speed which looks nice but I notice you can't accelerate or slow down as easily as on the psp or ds because of no actual buttons. Also it seems like a lot of the games on the iphone are pick-up-and-play while the psp could give you 60 hours of gameplay on some games (Final Fantasy: Crisis Core for example).

Sure the iphone is a great casual mobile gaming device but can it have games as indepth as the PSP?

I havent heard of many games on the iPhone that offer the depth of games that the PSP offer. I dont have an iPhone so i am basing this off of friends who have them. Personally I dont think you should be buying it as you main portable gaming device, save that slot for the DS or PSP.

iPhone. But devs are only making pick-up and play games for it.

4 ≈ One

I believe the ipod touch actually has a more powerful GPU for gaming than the iPhone. In terms of which is more powerful, the PSP can in certain respects rival the PS2 for power. I think the PSP is the more powerful hardware (especially if you look at GoW PSP). The iPhone could have more in depth games, but considering the success of titles so far, I think the queston has to be what's the point?

i have both and ill go with psp

If the iPhone is more "powerful" it certainly doesn't show it.

The answer is simple really: The iPhone is more powerful by far. However, the iPhone is doing a lot more things at the same time, while the PSP just plays games. Graphically speaking, there is no game on iPhone that comes close to Crisis Core, Dissidia, God of War, etc., But in theory they should be able to make games that look that good. However, devs take their time with PSP games while new iPhone games come out every moment.

so can you tell me why you think the psp is more powerful? I don't have an iphone so that's why I'm curious

well it depends on part's of  the hardware.

but overall the PSP is not as powerful as the IPHONE

in some parts yes, but other's of each hardware the Iphone win's greatly.

example:

the iPhone uses the Samsung S5PC100 Cortex A8 Arm, which is capable of running at 833Mhz, though Apple has slowed it down to 600Mhz, likely because of heat and battery issues. Samsung says the processor is capable of 720P playback, 2D/3D graphics acceleration and HDMI output — it’s unclear how much of that processing power app builders will get to play with, but the machine is definitely much faster than the old 3G.
