Forums - Gaming Discussion - The thing that pisses me off the most about game pirates...

What bothers me the most is the ability to play games unreleased in the US that aren't region compatable.

It's why i want there badly to be a super robot wars PS3.

I really don’t give a crap about this matter because everyone has their own damn opinion no point in discussing it.

But PC is dying slowly and let’s face it its dew to piracy.

And Modern Warfare 2 was dumb down for the pc because.... well not piracy.... oh yeah.... activision wants more of your money for less service …. Totally understandable …. I think :S
Well people bought the game so i guess its ok ! right =?

PC has been "slowley dieing" for 10-15 years now.

It's dieing so badly that EA is shfiting more resources TO PC.

PC gaming is healthier than it's every been.  The majority of PC sales however aren't public record due to digital distribution methods.

Piracy really doesn't kill anything.

I mean, i believe some developer actually had numbrs on how many sales were gained by stopping piracy.  Was not a flattering ratio.

That's why you rent and read reviews. If you buy a bad game then it's your loss, sell it to someone else that might enjoy it.

Yes you did.

I don't get the morality issue whenever you pirate something you'd never buy otherwise, no matter the reason.

I mean, how can it be morally wrong to get for free something someone else did and wants money from when it's actually doing them absolutely no harm? It's more like the other way around, actually, if you ask me. See, you make a game. Now there's this guy who's never gonna buy your game, but he does want to play it and has the means to do so, without doing you or your product no harm. Would you really deny it? Why? How can that be moral?

Hell, we are talking about a business already, bringing morality to the table makes no sense to begin with.

Yeah you're right, the pirates wouldn't buy it in the first place because they can illegally download it for FREE. It is a choice.
Some people never buy any games and pirate them all. Are you saying that if it was impossible to pirate the games then they wouldn't buy any?
They are not entitled to something even if they weren't going to buy it anyway.
I don't understand how people try to justify stealing. I have pirated some songs, do I think what  did was right? No because it's ILLEGAL.

Anyways, people who think the used game business is worse:

How would the game industry fair if every single person pirated vs. every single person buying used copies.
Obviously the gaming business would die if everyone pirated.

For the second part of your answer:

What is a good game for a rewier is not nececerly a good game for me and that is more true today then ever.

Ive been buying games since 1980 and i know how much crap games you buy over the years and how many times you havent been able to buy something that actually was a good game because you bought something shitty now wort your money.

Since downloading has become easier i actually buy more games because i allready know wich games i like and enjoy, my buying habits of buying shitty games are close to non existant which means the money i saved in from those purchases went to games that were worth it to me.

I agree, well this is somewhat limited this gen.

I mean I think Wii can do it, but all region specific 360 games can not be played outside their regions to matter if you mod and pirate or not.

PS3 is unpiratable so even though there is no region protection, its not possible.

No, because it isn't ILLEGAL for people to be a plumber.

Nice try

So.... in countries where it's illegal for women to vote... it's morally wrong from women to vote?

Bad argument.

Yeah.  I want Super Robot Wars 360... but sadly it won't play on my 360.

I still haven't heard any reason you should get something for free, just more explanations how it doesn't hurt anybody. Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter to you.

In a perfect world shouldn't everyone get what they want for free?

I don't pirate, yet at the same time I don't see why it's morally wrong for more people to get or expierence something, for free, at no cost to anybody.

I mean, if we had a way of copying medicine for free and giving it to anybody for free... would anyone be against this?

If we could copy food over the internet, would that really be immoral?

The only reason "morality" comes in to play is because it's something trivial.

It's really ironic.

It's immoral to copy things we value less, yet moral to copy things we value more.

I mean, should jesus of been arrested for making a copy of a fish that was obviously caught by someone.

Nah, I never said it was illegal everywhere, I said pirates(People who download illegally) choose to pirate because they can download it for free.

You aren't pirating if it is legal. It still doesn't make it right though.

No, we already went over the immoral aspects of piracy, a guy was wondering why we were talking about morality in a business talk or something. So I added that it was illegal.

Completely out of context

you just said it again: you said download illegaly but dowloading isnt illegal everywhere so you cant refer to it as illegal just because it is where you live and just because it is illegal where you are it doesnt make that law a right one either as you seem to think.

Edit:

Downloading gives you the best tool as an consumer, why take the word of a rewier when you can actually see for your self?

Its up to you to do the right thing and use that tool  in a right way just as most things in life.
