You've never seen me make a Beatles thread. Let's pretend for a second that Taylor Swift is as good as The Beatles, or that she's as amazing of a songwriter as Paul McCartney. Do you see me going around in Off Topic, making half a dozen threads about McCartney and praising his name whenever possible? Hell, when it comes to chart success, the two can't even be compared. Paul McCartney was a member of the biggest band of all time, wrote the most covered song of all time, and is still playing live concerts and releasing hit albums well into his 60s. And yet I don't think I've ever made a single thread about him. I may have discussed liking his music in some threads, but I'm not fanatical about him.

That's the difference. I don't think many of us hate Taylor Swift as much as you think, but we are SO FUCKING TIRED of you shoving her down our throats with every other post/thread you make. And we're also FUCKING SICK of you just taking random modern artists who have had a couple years of chart success and comparing them to some of the greatest music artists and song writers of all time. What's next, Britney Spears is the new Beethoven? You can't sink much lower at this point.

Your arguments are also tired and boring. If we point out quality, you point out chart success. If we point out the chart success of past artists, you point out quality (usually with a quip about how Taylor Swift is as good of a song writer as some timeless musician such as McCartney, Lennon, Bob Dylan, etc.). And if we get mad at you and insult Taylor Swift (which is really not nearly as bad as your constant and overzealous praise of her), you just claim that we don't like her because we're sexist.

Fuck that.

Educate yourself. Listen to music from different time periods. Hell, listen to Moonlight Sonata, I don't care. I'm just fucking sick of you and your constant praise of a singer who hasn't done much yet. Maybe Taylor Swift will be as timeless and terrific as Paul McCartney, but she sure as hell isn't know, so stop talking about her so freakin' much.

She is just as good. You're right! She's nowhere near as successful yet, but shes on the rise and she is a huge huge star right now, just as the beatles were when they first stated.

Britney Spears is an icon.. You cannot deny that, cause she is amazing and is a world wide sex symbol and has the highest first week sales ever by a female artist.

I'm tired of the same arguments here that any music thats not Pink Floyd or Beatles is shit music, cause thats not true at all.

Educate myself? I think somepeople need to learn how to take other peoples opinions without crying about it. If someone doesn't like my opinion they can either accept it or they can pout and stomp their feet like you are doing right now. Lol Montana, PS3 is very educated when it comes to music.. if anything I should be the one that needs to listen to music from other periods in time, I am a lover of music, and I can only hope it consums me, literally, music is something I may major in...

You see, The Beatles became popular because they were, in a way, the rising voice of a generation (a bit like what Elvis did a while back). People were starting to get out of the religious impact that was so prevalent everywhere. It let young people, girls especially, go wild and enjoy themselves. The Beatle Mania became incredible one day! Also, they were the first to record an album with stereo sound if I remember correctly. They experienced with so many ways to write music, it's incredible. Plus their music aren't half-bad either. Most of their experience songs from Abbey Road are actually my favorites

I can't wait to see how Taylor Swift is going to change the world in her own way... but whatever floats your boat. Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got 'em and it stinks!
