Absolutely ridiculous that you would keep supporting a company that sells a broken product. I wouldn't put up with that from any company regardless of the product.

That is exactly why I only have half of my PS2 collection, and why it took me so ling to upgrade to the PS3

Yeah, I think people are quick to forget that launch PS2's might as well have been made out of paper and were every bit as bad as launch 360's.

I don't know how many people I know that fucked their PS2's by watching a single DVD.

I'm going to be selling my Launch elite as soon as I get my damn transfer kit...GRRR...you can buy it from me...the warranty is good thru April 2010...lol.

dre was a fixable problem which didn't brick your console and nowhere near the scale of the 360's problems

as far as forgetting the ps2's problems, well i only vaguely remember some mention of it and i've personally never had a problem with my ps2 fat

My first one was a launch unit and it RRoD'd before they admitted it was a problem, so I gave that one to my brother who had it fixed (it later RRoD'd again and he kicked it down the street and bought another one).

Later, I bought a Halo edition 360 and that RRoD'd about 2 weeks before the 3 year was up, so I was lucky there.

Now the replacement unit I got, which is out of warranty, just had a DVD drive failure. Then I punched it and it RRoD'd lol.

Oh MS, how you beat me down and yet I still come crawling back. Looks like I'm going to go grab an arcade. What's the newest model? Jasper? I just can't pass up the 360 exclusives this year.

please dont get the arcard, its really a rip off, if your gonna a 360 get the elite in all seriousness....

we'll he can keep the hard drive and trade in his dead 360 for an arcade

Yeah, if you've already had a 360 and are just getting a new one for whatever reason getting anything besides the Arcade is a ripoff.

As for the OP, meh, electronics break.  You got three years out of it which is decent for electronics these days.  I'm not sure what else you expect them to do.

Yeah, the new tech is pretty janky. My NES still works and I used to punch it when I would get mad at games. Hell, I bet if I dug up my old Atari (the one with the wood grain and analogue swtches), it would probably fire right up too.

This will be the last 360 I buy. Hopefully the 3 year RRoD warranty is enough to cover me until the generation subsides. I won't be early adopting next time, either.

So if I say I don't know anyone with a broken 360 does that prove 360's never really had a problem?

What the hell does that have to do with anything? You know what you can do with your patronizing little comment buddy.

Halo edition 360 launched in 2007 (along with the first Halo game on the console) ... so that would be just gone 2 years ...

Just out of curiosity, do you have any sources for the PS2 failure rate?  I've heard about how the PS2 had a lot of problems at launch, but I've never seen any hard numbers.

Until I read the OP, I thought 360 finally was passed by PS3.

Sorry about your 360 btw.
