You can't act like the Wii's games won't attract people.

Name the games that could attract people that are not sequels.

DQX? Too far away, nothing else that we know about.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Im really suprised to see a dry period of Software again in Q1 (hopefuly ninty or 3rd parties have something in store) especially after we have seen a lot of decent 3rd party games in Q4 this year. If Tales got released few weeks after FF XIII it probably would have sold much better. Nintendo should do something about Q1 or we gonna see a dry period again

Yeah, Q1's pretty bare. Weirdly, Capcom seems to have the most announced releases so far?

  • 01.14.10 Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles (Capcom/cavia)
  • 01.26.09 Gyakuten Saiban 2 (Capcom)
  • 01.28.09 Tasunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars (Capcom/Eighting)
  • 02.10.09 MadWorld (Spike/Platinum Games)
  • 02.11.09 Zangenki no Reginliev (Nintendo/Sandlot)
  • 02.23.09 Gyakuten Saiban 3 (Capcom)
  • 02.25.09 Super Monkey Ball Athletic (SEGA)

While it's a bit of a weird case, I wouldn't count Other M as a sequel exactly.  It's pretty much nothing like the Prime games, it's by the original Metroid team working with Team Ninja, it's not a fps, larger emphasis on story... Metroid used to be a fairly valuable IP, the original sold over a million and Super Metroid even sold 600k.  I think Other M might surprise people, at the least I don't expect sales in line with the Primes.

I'd also bring up Zelda, though that's more a direct sequel, it's also the first real ground up Zelda for Wii.

I do think Nintendo's 2010 looks really bare though.  They need more games in general, and more RPGs in particular (what happened to Shining Force Gear and Inazuma Eleven Break again?).  Also probably couldn't hurt to see Nintendo get more aggressive in courting exclusives either, I think their position would already look stronger if they'd have secured Basara 3 in the same way they did MH3.

Yeah I think ToG was the last big 3rd party game announced for Wii, and that was abt a year ago. I agree with Trestres, 3rd party games are shifting away unfortunately for the Wii and me...

Graces was the last big exclusive (though you could also argue Darkside Chronicles), but the last big game was really Basara 3 imo.  People tend to discount it due to being multiplatform though.

Soriku is not going to agree with you trestres, he is the guy who said that thx to the high sales of the Wii in Japan we will see a lot of 3d party games on the Wii.

Anyway isn't NO more heroes the sequel going to release in 2010 on the Wii?

For the rest all those software releases on PS3 will it only make harder to convince the Japanese devs to make Wii games.

Basara was semi-big, considering that it's a multiplatform game with the PS3, and that won't end up well for its sales. The fact that the PS3 version will be graphically superior and include online multiplayer doesn't help the Wii version either. I expect something similar to what happened to SD Gundam G which was released both for the PS2 and Wii, or something similar to what's happeneing with Winning Eleven.

The margin won't be close to either SD Gundam or Winning Eleven for obvious reasons, though I do expect the PS3 version to sell more.  Musou market is already consolidated there thanks to Koei, which comes closest to Basara in terms of audience.  Capcom also seems to be pushing the PS3 version more in promotional materials, despite the game being obviously designed around Wii spec.

^^ But PS2 already had the fanbase for Gundam so it definitely killed the Wii version since tehy're the same game only cheaper on the PS2. I dont know how Basara will perform, but i dont think it will as bad as Gundam on Wii.

Also this got me thinking about all the Wii/PS2 like pro kun baseball and Gundam. Will they start shifting only towards the Wii or become Wii/PS3?
