So a lot of people like HD graphics and stuff this gen, and I guess that's cool. For me, though, I stopped being impressed with graphics after Resident Evil 4. As long as a game looks equal or better than RE4 or Twilight Princess, I'm alright. Of course, I can notice if a game looks better, but it will never ever make me go "Wow, that just gave me another reason to buy this game". I can get annoyed if people don't put effort into the game, so it looks worse than the previous two examples, but as long as it's on-par with them I will never be disappointed.

See, for example, Uncharted 2. Everyone is going on about how those are the best graphics ever. Okay, maybe they are. But that doesn't make me want Uncharted 2 any more at all. I want Uncharted 2 because it looks really, really fun.

Just wanted to share my general views on graphics with you all. Feel free to say your opinion on graphics in general, or comment on mine if you will.

Believe it or not, the graphics and art direction in games like Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, GoW2, etc. all make the game look much more atmospheric! I don't think many of us would anticipate Alan Wake if it weren't for the fantastic lighting or the atmosphere the graphics have created in that game. Of course, this is just my opinion, your opinion is just as valid as mine.

ugly game is like a ugly chick, sure you can play with her but you will always think what if.

So Uncharted 2 would be just as enjoyable if the characters were blocky and pixelated with bad lip synching and rigid animations?

Graphics can add tremendously to the overall experience.

Well, my opinion is that graphics don't even matter when you put them in terms of value in a game.

Gameplay, game mechanics, fluency and overall feeling of the game is way more important than the graphics.

To make an example, one of the games that I love and think that are one of the best expressions of artistic abilities it's Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past.

I gather that you haven't been in gaming for too long right? Or are you telling that you cannot play a game from a past generation just because they look "ugly"? o.O

I like to see the envelope pushed.

If games stayed the same in terms of visuals, I would never get those "wow" moments as something breathtaking and unseen before takes place on-screen.

i personally don't care about graphics , thats one of the reasons why i ignored Killzone 2 the whole year. because people were boasting about the graphics and since i don't care about graphics i thought the game was like looking at poop in HD graphics and attention to detail , that is until i played it

Decent controls you can enjoy are easy nuf, no one is asking you to commit.  Just enjoy her for a night or two... a rental.
