which is why i only said a few, and not all, people read please.
if it was any higher it would raise suspicions about either a.faulty hardware or b.my theory lol. Anyway again it is a what if situation here bear that in mind.

i got the launch 60gb never had a issue yet i played everything on it ps3 ps1 ps2 dvd cd bluyray
no i dont think thats true if any thing i think the 40gb are the weakest
as for ps3s failing wats the failure rate for them? i believe most of it is (YLOD, bluy ray) internet blow up to make the ps3 look bad

Play Me
blu ray is new tech the lifespan of a drive couldnt have been thoroughly tested, just like dvd before it, sometimes shit just happens, i still have an old 60gb model and its doing great.
no, Sony has built crappy hardware before (disc read errors on both the PS1 and original PS2) so I wouldn't be surprised if the first generation of PS3 hardware had issues. Sony seems to do a lot better on the later revisions. Also, the PS3 seems more reliable than the PS1/2.
@Hus
Microsoft put a time bomb in DirectX for .NET. It caused a lot of headaches at my work because we were using it. I wouldn't put it past some of the big companies to pull that stunt. Heck, Sony built a backdoor into every PC that listened to Sony published music.

No I don't think so, I have a original 40 gig , about 3 years old, I own 32 PS3 games I play a lot, I watch DVDs on it as my main player, I watch bluray dvds on it, I at times use the internet on it, Never a problem. I would say about 5-6 hours a day on the small side for use with my PS3, My 9 year old son plays the crap out of it also, atleast 6 hrs a day for 3 years with never a problem, that whole time I have only seen 2 game freezes, its been a great great console, out of the 25 plus people i know with a PS3 only 1 had a dvd drive failure, thats it. ( I did not mean my 9 year old plays 6 hrs a day, with all uses atleast 6 hrs a day from everyone on average )
mmm interesting, thanks for your thoughts people!!

it certainly seems like it doesn't it?
Everytime I see someone on this site saying "YLOD" happened or "My life is over", I think about just how reflective this population is of the entire population.
It sometimes feels like we get more YLOD announcements than RROD announcements.
It makes me wonder how 360 fans felt when people brought up xbox failure.
"Is it really that rampant", "Are these people telling the truth"...etc etc.
It does feel like all the original ps3 are culminating in one massive output of failure, right?
I've been thinking the same thing.

hehe i was waiting for you lol ^^
