Forums - Sales - Battle of E3 2005 games, Who will sell more??? (Alan Wake Vs Killzone 2)

I only feel it will outsell Killzone 2 because A) I expect a similar sales pattern to Fable II and B) Microsoft to advertise this.

There's every chance I could be wrong, I'm just pinning my hopes on this doing more than 3 mill, would be a shame if it doesn't :\

Killzone 2 by 500k-1m.

I think (and am pretty sure) Killzone 2 will sell more. It is in a far more popular genre than Alan Wake, which would be the first advantage it has. It was also far, far more hyped. From what I've seen, Alan Wake is only really being anticipated by people like us on the forum, who don't just play games but actually talk about them a lot too. Killzone 2 is also a far bigger exclusive for the Playstation 3 than Alan Wake is for the 360, as far as I've seen as well. It might not have the same sales, but in terms of name and hype it is equivalent to Halo/Gears of War for 360. Alan Wake will probably end up more equivalent to Demon's Souls (with higher sales though), as it will be far more of a niche game.

That's how I see this "sales battle" turning out at least.

Mmm, I'd forgotten about Fable 2. That did sell extremely well.

Maybe Wake will sell better than I reckon. Not that I think it will sell at all badly. It will definitely break 2mil before 2010 is up.

KZ2, only because Alan Wake is not a shooter.

I agree with this. Killzone should sell better, it's a more popular genre. Also, I don't know if I'm going to drink the "Alan Wake will sell great" Kool-Aid just yet, maybe once I see how it gets advertised, then I'll be more optimistic.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

I'm personally more likely to prefer Alan Wake to KZ2 because of my genre preferences. the only lreason I'm not getting Alan Wake is because I don't have a 360 and don't see one in my future. I've had a PS3 for 5 months and I still have no plans to buy KZ2. I'll buy Heavy Rain well before I ever buy KZ2 (KZ2 used

Alan Wake is the single 360 game that I've been looking forward to. I think it will sell pretty well and final numbers will probably be just below Killzone 2(

But to be honest I wouldn't be that surprised if Wake bombs and struggles to get 1 Mill and I wouldn't be surprised either if it catches on with the xbox community and sells 4 million.

No chance of that whatsoever.... name me one other big 360 title that has failed or will fail to reach 1m.  Aside from Too Human...

It will sail past 1m and eventually 2m.

So why would you ask that question if you know that there is a big 360 title that failed or will reach 1m? Too Human. You know the answer so why asK?

And it won't beat Killzone 2.
