Forums - Nintendo - Don't feel bad for abandoning IGN, so has 75% of the rest of their audience

I highly doubt this decline has anything to do with Nintendo fans. I know I stopped going there because the sites layout is a terrible mess. I don't agree with most of their reviews either, but mostly it's because the site is really clustered.

This is the only gaming site I've ever really enjoyed visiting and being a part of. I stopped trafficking other gaming websites after I found this one.

I really, really doubt Nintendo fans make up that much of IGN's audience. No game since Brawl would have garnered a significant amount of hits.

That's the reason IGN and most other sites are focusing on the HD systems.  The Nintendo have the most marketshare and sell the most software, but the people who read their site consider themselves 'hardcore' and mostly stick to the 360/PS3/PSP.  And most of the review sites out now are trying to cater to these people.

Even if these people are fickle and many of them also own the Wii.  Its a pretty short-term strategy for gaining site attention if you ask me because next gen, they have to rely on hate and 'anti-Nintendo' bias to run their site.  And if Nintendo comes out on top again...that might not work very well.  Especially if next gen Nintendo comes out with a more powerful system focused more on graphics (as they've been hinting at) and people feel betrayed by the next Sony and/or MS offerings, which are already making sharp turns to immitate Nintendo and hinting their next systems won't be such a huge leap in technology as this gen.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Let me get this straight:

Th general public : Wii fans, have left IGN which has caused a major decline in viewership. Now, where did those Wii fans go ?

I think most of the Wii Fans has left the multiplattform HD-Fan-Websites like gameinformer & Co. and has gone to the Wii-only-Websites to read well written and unbiased Reviews.

After you read 5 times in an review from ign & Co. that this Wii game graphics are good but nothing against the HD-graphics you abandon such sites. :)

what does this have to do with Nintendo? is it because what Matt wrote "Nintendo is Lazy" article?

it doesn't matter anyway, i already abused Matt for that article and now im banned from IGN and i dont regret it lol,

Quite simple, for me at least:

- VGC for general news and sales... great website, as most of us should know by now...

- Go Nintendo for all the Nintendo news... everything related to Nintendo is there, even if i don't always agree with RMC (the guy in charge)...

- Nintendo Life for all the reviews... my favourite gaming website these days: well written reviews, great community, and all i need to know about ALL the games comin' out, VC, WiiWare, DSiWare, and the new retail stuff on Wii and DS...

- Metacritic, just to check and compare with other reviews, and be glad to go back to Nintendo Life...  :)

You see, no Need for IGN, no need at all... not even a single click, now, i don't want to create any "web revenues" for these guys anymore...

I started going less when they started to have their flash banner that my computer disliked (exactly the same as we have here since 2.0 and that makes my pages lag...)
I started not reading their reviews when every 2 words they said "waggle".

All I do there now is watch the videos and the daily fix... though I do all that at the end of the week (not so daily then).

I do agree that cassa is a reason that I don't go there much anymore... though i'm not too fond of ?Bozon? (the fat one) either, they are definitely reasons why I don't read the reviews...
