Forums - Nintendo - Don't feel bad for abandoning IGN, so has 75% of the rest of their audience

yes I was going to say there last design pissed me off so I stopped going there. perhaps this is the reason for most people.

but I just checked and their website is a little bit easier to navigate again. it hasn't got those stupid boxes everywhere which did not expand to more reviews or more of older news etc..

Yeah, I hardly go on IGN any more. For news I hang around here, for reviews I usually check a few sites off metacritic, and mainly Eurogamer.

i dont really trust reviews any more, dont understand why you read the reviews from this site...utter crap...imo

gametrailers dont know how to review games, they are so bias its not even funny

same goes to gamespot

ign is getting week, i used to like theie reviews....its better then this site, better then god aweful GS and GT.

dont really take these sites seriously, seems like the games are reviews by close minded nerds who care about something not really worth caring (i.e. minor graphical difference between ps3 and 360...)....which hardcore gamers are....

maybe if it's about Nintendo...
-NSMBWII review
-Matt Csssimana leaving the Nintendo Team

Sorry dont have time to check all of the replies, but did someone mention the fact that Matt Cassamassina is no longer the editor in chief of the Nintendo team? That was around a month or so ago that he moved to another position. As I understand it, he has a more general position now and covers any/all systems he chooses.

same can be said about ign

they HAD good reviews, like 3-5 pages for a full review.

now it seems as if ign are throwing away 9s for every hyped game....

i take these reviews as an opinion not for what the game really is. most people live and breath for these reviews, thinking a 7 equals failure.

i take reviews into acount but i dont even bother to read or see the score anymore. if i think a game looks interesting or liked the demo i rent or buy it then judge it.

I do think there's a general disconnect with these gaming sites and the Wii audience. Wii owners are more concerned with a game being fun and reviews score do not reflect the fun factor value of a game. In fact, there's a huge disconnect between games that are fun and games that get a high score on gaming sites when it comes to Wii.

Also things like Conduit getting a much better review than CoDMW:RE really makes IGN lack any credibility.

I used to visit IGN daily and still visit regularly (the new layout is 1000x's better) but I don't trust their reviews. I check Metacritic and then Amazon for laypersons opinions.

agreed with the wii statment, i only buy wii games for fun. never look at anny of the reviews before buying because no offence wii lovers... i dont take the system seriously, only for its 1s party games like zelda, mario and such.

its just plain fun, nothing wrong with that.

Matt from ign is right though.

Nintendo sucks big time right now. 99% games for wii are garbage and then good games like madworld and Metroid 3 are not selling according to expectations.
