Forums - Gaming - Will a company out there ever deliver an ultimate portable device?

There are many great portable devices out there with different features. However there is not a single device that is the be all end all of all portable devices.

Below are the features I want in 1 portable device:

- 3.5 inch slide screen or larger with touch screen capabilities

- Built in speakers and a 3+ megapixel camera with flash

- functional phone that doesn't make you look stupid when your put it next to your ear (ngage no thanks)

- GPS capability

- Audio and video multimedia capabilities

- Built in memory with memory card expansion slot

- Slide feature that reveals atleast 6 buttons and dual analog sticks

- Viable gaming platform with major support

- Bluetooth, Wifi and RF freqency (for car starts and car door opening)

- Browser with Flash support, email support.

- TV out feature with up to 720p support

- not bigger than PSP GO

I am willing to pay 600 dollars to the first person-company that delivers this device in to my hands. Get to it!

Do you guys think we will ever see a device like this in our lifetime... which company do you think will deliver something closest to this. My money is on Sony as PSP Go is the closest so far. But it also could be a no name company like Gamepark with GP2X or even Microsoft with the Zune product line.

I have doubts at this point that Nintendo will ever do anything techie like this and Apple is all about simple and idiot proof. This is too complex for them do make...

What do you think.

PSP2, will more than likely offer a lot of that.

So we could see it late next year!

Sony FTW if this happens.

To be honest, even if this isnt announced Ill pick up PSP Go probably if someone cracks homebrew and emulation support. I like the device...feels great and is portable enough.

I just hate having my Zune for mp3s, PSP 3000 for gaming, motorolla phone for calls and a GPS device for directions. I need a freekin purse...

Wow you have a lot of requested features. My money would be on Samsung or Sony to make something like this.

Well from the points you want... Here are the reasons i think PSP2 will use most.

- 3.5 inch slide screen or larger with touch screen capabilities
They already have the slide going on with Go. Touch screen will likely follow with how DS has worked so well.

- Built in speakers and a 3+ megapixel camera with flash
Possibly, Although i dunno...

- functional phone that doesn't make you look stupid when your put it next to your ear (ngage no thanks)
Rumor's of a PS phone have been going around for a while now.

- GPS capability
Possible...

- Audio and video multimedia capabilities
PSP has this, doesn't it?

- Built in memory with memory card expansion slot
Very likely.

- Slide feature that reveals atleast 6 buttons and dual analog sticks
PSP Go was going to have this, but then they wanted it to have the same controls as a normal PSP. (Theres a link somewhere where they talk about Dual analogues)

- Viable gaming platform with major support
Sony.

- Bluetooth, Wifi and RF freqency (for car starts and car door opening)
Possible...

- Browser with Flash support, email support.
Definately possible...

- TV out feature with up to 720p support
I dunno.

- not bigger than PSP GO
Likely will stat bigger than the Go, but revisions will bring it down to size.

Yeah, good call. Samsung really needs to get in to gaming. Pretty much everything they do is industry leading.

Better yet, make a portable gaming device for Microsoft. Help them out before they decide to make one themselves and kill us all...

@Carl2291
Your conclusion is very logical. Sony is front runner in my mind as well... Hopefully they enable small homebrew support but not piracy. If they allow people to run some 3rd party apps and software, piracy wont be a problem

look for nokia N900 =).
it have everything except the dual analog.

but does 840x480p video.

wow thats alot of features, if all this was in 1 portable device, the thing would be as expensive as the playstation 3 when it first launched lol

Apple if they will add physical buttons to the ipod
