Should definitely include:

Starcraft 2-(an entire country will buy this game)

WoW:Cataclysm-How many of the current WoW install base WONT buy this? Not many Im betting. ( i have not played WoW in 6 months and Im even excited for some Cata!)

From the consoles tho:

Final Fantasy 13 will not for one reason. The OP said next year and the Japanese release is THIS year. So if you take away this years sales, the NA/EU/AU/Late adopter JP will not hit the Halo Reach numbers. It might overall, but not if you exclude the JP Decembers numbers.

GT5 has a chance but it all depends on how much Sony markets the game. If they release a GT5 bundle WW (custom console, game, extra controller...etc) they have a damn good shot at this.

Yes, this is much more spot-on.  I suppose to fit 5 maayyybbeee CoD7 just for good measure.

Oppse, forgot the 5th. thanks.

Yea Ill go with CoD7 (for lack of a better option)

Im going for Gran Turismo 5 here.

Old Republic - absolutely no way. Whoever put it in this article is an idiot. This game wont even get 5% of Reach's success.

APB - no way.

Medal of Honor - no.

Final Fantasy XIII - very unlikely.

Call of Duty 7 - in overall sales yes, but not in 2010 sales. Call of Duty 7 wont be Modern Warfare 3.

Gran Turismo 5 - unlikely.

So I think MS are right and Reach will become the biggest game of 2010.

You're thinking this won't even get in the 250k-750k range?  While sure Cataclysm is coming, TOR certainly looks promising enough to make at least 5% of Reach's success.

When 500k people are playing a p2p MMORPG it is already considered a major success. There are only like 4 or 5 p2p MMORPGs with 500k+ subscribers. I am basically expecting OR to become another one. But comparing it to Halo is nonsense.

It should also be noted that there was already a high-quality Star Wars MMORPG that has failed to achieve success. Star Wars name wont be of much help for OR.

It's gonna be tough for any game to pass up halo:reach numbers. The only one that has a chance is GT5, but with Natal set to launch at the same time I don't see anything that can stop this game.

gt5 is number 1 god of war 3 has a chance of bieng number 2 or maybe even number 3 and halo reach number 3. I am not putting in cod because i am only counting in exclusives

and plus ps3 also has gem which looks very succesfull

I don't know if your going by sales or quality, but overall respectable predictions.

I'll list my games that sales-wise could beat Halo Reach

1. Call of Duty 7 - I agree with you on this one. It all depends on the setting and quality of game of course. If its another WWII shooter then it won't beat Reach. But if its something new like Vietnam or Modern/Future then it could beat Reach

2. Gran Turismo 5 - I don't know, maybe it's taken so long to come out that people won't care anymore, but hopefully I'm wrong and it will do really well.

3. Final Fantasy 13 - I again agree with you on this one, but just like with GT5 did it take too long to come out?

4. Agent - You can't possibly discount a Playstation exclusive Rockstar games title. You just can't.

5. Mario Galaxy 2 - Will probably get 10 million sales

6. Next "Wii series" game - I don't know what it'll be, maybe Wii Fit 3, Wii Sports 3, Wii Play 2, etc. But these games sell well.

7. Gears of War 3 - It should sell a solid 5 million units. With a huge "finish the fight" type advertising campaign for the last game in the trilogy it could do 6 or 7 million, who knows?

8. Grand Theft Auto 5 - I don't think it'll be out in 2010, but if it is...oh yeah, you know.

Well that's my list.

Ok . . . I get that there are some people that hate Halo's popularity as much as they hate Halle Berry's beauty, but that doesn't change anything. Halo: Reach will be the single biggest game of next year. This is not Halo 3. This is bigger. It will have a push unlike anything you've seen that'll start this coming Sunday. It is selling to a MUCH larger install base (remember, Halo 3 sold at launch to what was at the time 53% of the 360 install base). And the games that are in the OP just . . . they're just not in the same league in SALES POPULARITY. Whether you like the series or not, its huge and this will be the biggest one yet.

The only game that could conceivably come close is GT5, but that's only in comparison to GT1-4 which sold to MUCH higher install bases on the PS1 and PS2. The PS3 install base hasn't embraced the series at the same rate (GT5:P is just over 4 million in almost 2 years).

daveJ . . . . . . . . . you know, never mind. Why even bother.

Red - Maybe... As it's been said, there are many games that could outsell it.

Blue - Install bases dont really matter much, as has already been proven with a number of games (Most notably MGS4)

Green - GT5... Prologue. That's like saying Halo has gone down in poplularity since Halo Wars and ODST haven't sold as well as Halo 3. (And a small addition, GT5:P is the highest selling "Prologue" of the series.)

RE: Red - Sorry, I meant that as an opinion, not fact.  But I thoroughly believe it will be.  I was an idiot and thought that Pachter saying MW2 would sell 10 million this holiday was retarded, but I failed to acknowledge how powerful of a franchise that is THIS GEN.  Halo as well has proven that it is a VERY powerful franchise THIS GEN.  In fact, with the exception of the Wii games that haven't necessarily been 'franchised', CoD:MW, Halo and GTA are THE mega franchises.  So when one of those comes out during any year, it deservedly gets a pass.  I stand by it even before the first look in 2 days.

RE: Blue - I'm sorry, but I can't by into install bases not mattering.  Console makers have for too long promoted the importance of an install base and math tells you that the more consoles there are out there then the more potential software purchasers you have out there to promote to.  2nd and 3rd place consoles typically haven't had a lot of software that sells 9 million+ (. . . isn't the 360 the first one?).

RE: Green - True, but its all we have to go by right now.  That and the reality that the PS3 currently has only ONE game that has sold over 5 million and it is a previous PS powerhouse franchise that has sold just over half of its worse selling counterpart from last gen (sorry, that was a mess of a sentence).  And, while GT is a powerhouse franchise as well, previous version did get a number of sales from being a pack-in and that's something that Halo hasn't ever really been in a significant way, particularly not this gen.

BTW, I like the color coded response format.  You should patent that!

Yes GT5 is missing

Pokemon HEart Gold will outsell it too.

But Pokemon Gold/Silver is a 2009 game, not a 2010 game so can you really count it? I bought a copy of Silver for my gf this past September.

Also @ people saying FF13, that too is a 2009 game right? It comes this month here in Japan.
