Red - Maybe... As it's been said, there are many games that could outsell it. Blue - Install bases dont really matter much, as has already been proven with a number of games (Most notably MGS4) Green - GT5... Prologue. That's like saying Halo has gone down in poplularity since Halo Wars and ODST haven't sold as well as Halo 3. (And a small addition, GT5:P is the highest selling "Prologue" of the series.) |
RE: Red - Sorry, I meant that as an opinion, not fact. But I thoroughly believe it will be. I was an idiot and thought that Pachter saying MW2 would sell 10 million this holiday was retarded, but I failed to acknowledge how powerful of a franchise that is THIS GEN. Halo as well has proven that it is a VERY powerful franchise THIS GEN. In fact, with the exception of the Wii games that haven't necessarily been 'franchised', CoD:MW, Halo and GTA are THE mega franchises. So when one of those comes out during any year, it deservedly gets a pass. I stand by it even before the first look in 2 days.
RE: Blue - I'm sorry, but I can't by into install bases not mattering. Console makers have for too long promoted the importance of an install base and math tells you that the more consoles there are out there then the more potential software purchasers you have out there to promote to. 2nd and 3rd place consoles typically haven't had a lot of software that sells 9 million+ (. . . isn't the 360 the first one?).
RE: Green - True, but its all we have to go by right now. That and the reality that the PS3 currently has only ONE game that has sold over 5 million and it is a previous PS powerhouse franchise that has sold just over half of its worse selling counterpart from last gen (sorry, that was a mess of a sentence). And, while GT is a powerhouse franchise as well, previous version did get a number of sales from being a pack-in and that's something that Halo hasn't ever really been in a significant way, particularly not this gen.
BTW, I like the color coded response format. You should patent that!
