Forums - General - MMA/UFC thread

I've been quite a huge fan of MMA for some time now, and im sure some of you also enjoy watching this amazing sport. I was thinking about starting a thread about UFC(and MMA in general) for long time, and with tommorow's UFC 107 i think its a perfect timing.

I think the line up for Saturday is pretty good , main card:

Lightweight Championship Fight: B.J Penn vs. Diego "The Nightmare" Sanchez

Heavyweight Bout: Frank Mir vs. Chelck Kongo

Lightweight Bout: Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida

HeavyWeight Bout: Paul Buentanello vs. Stefan Struve

Weltergweight Bout: John Fitch vs. Mike Pierce

Penn is a hot favourite, Sanchez is hardworking and explosive fighter but i really doubt that anyone in that division can beat Bj in both striking and ground game.

Mir has been talking a lot of smack about Kongo, and he is a clear favourite but i wouldnt underestimate the Frenchman, he can take a lot of damage and hopefuly he will learn from mistakes he made against velazquez.

Florian against Guida should be interesting as well.

Anyone else exited about 107 ? I hope this thread becomes popular and we can have endless debates about MMA.

BJ and Diego's fight will be really good, i expect BJ to come out on top though.

Frank, i expect to dominate.

Guida impressed me when he fought Sanchez, i think he could pull off a win.

The other 2 fights... Meh.

What did you think of Ultimate Finale?

To be honest i wasn't to hyped for TUF Finale, show this year did not impress me (apart from Rampage and Rashard rivarly, shame they not going to fight for a while) Nelson was a clear favourite and he won ( i mean he competed against top fighters like Mir and Arlovski) and i hope he is gonna get his burger king sponsorship

Joe Jones vs. Hammil , i was dissapointed with the decision especially after such a great performance from Jones(and i really like Hammil , dude is a hero)

And there is Kimbo, man im not a fan of his and his 1st round with Alexander (waste of space) was a joke but i can see why they have him in the promotion, they will give him some easy fights so they can make more money.

But overall it was pretty decent and definately worth watching.

Win or lose, I'll always be a huge Frank Mir fan.

And I'm hoping Diego beats the shit out of Penn.

Boo, Diego!
