Forums - Microsoft - Is Star Ocean 4 last hope worth buying

First off let me start by saying the LO was great no doubt about, however Blue Dragon is THE worst JRPG to release this gen it was a horrid 360 JRPG, a disgrace to gaming.

I'd give LO an' 8 outta' 10 while BD a 2 outta' 10.

As for Star Ocean: The Last Hope, pretty much everything Nightwish said, its Great, but not worth a $60 price tag, i'd give SO4 a 8.5 outta' 10 on Xbox 360, it was lacking much from what Till the end of time did.

Has Blue Dragon been added to the list of JRPGs that you bash all the time without having played them? Just asking. I know that Tales of Vesperia and Persona are already on it, and I'm just wondering if this is as well.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about it?

I do not think it is. I beat and I even did every single Private Action in the game. I played the hell out of it, and I was very disappointed with it. I would not recommend buying it.

Please don't judge what you do not know.

I've played Blue Dragon, i hated the battle system it was to slow, i hated the graphics, it was ugly, and i hated the Art-Style most of all, stupid looking dragon ball z-like characters.

I've played Tales of Vesperia to.

The only game i haven't played yet is Persona, other then that i have no opinion on it rather then not liking it for its religious blasphemy.

However my opinion on Blue Dragon and Tales of Vesperia are valid so kindly dont go there would you?

Well, I really thought the story was awful(it ruined itself in the second half of the first disc. I thought it was so awesome whenever they made it back to Earth of the past but that's how you ruin anything cool), the characters were entirely uninteresting (ironically, except for Lymle), the huge array of technical issues, etc. The technical problems probably bother me more than most as it has frozen on me several times causing me to replay parts of the game more than once. Very annoying.

Ah, lulz well to each his own then.

I didn't have those technical issues, however the disc swapping to go back to certain area's brought down the overall 360 version Exp for me, it really was a pester of an issue to deal with.

Do you think you'd enjoy a fixed PS3 version?

You realize that waiting for PS3 for very minor changes means you'll pay a higher price tag? You can find Star Ocean 4 for the 360 very cheap. I've seen it at $20 in my local GameStop

I wasn't judging you. I was only asking a question. I wasn't totally serious either, so you really don't have to get so defensive.
For Vesperia, I may be wrong, but I could have sworn I read in another topic that you tried it out for a little bit at a game store. I didn't know that you actually played if for a long stretch of time before forming an opinion. My mistake. Also, don't try to say that you have no opinion on Persona, because I distinctly remember you posting negatively in a couple of Persona topics a while back.
I really like Blue Dragon, so I was just curious why you felt it to be a "disgrace." I have nothing to say about the graphics/art since that rests on personal opinion, but the battle system was arguably at a significantly faster pace than the system in Lost Odyssey, so I'm not sure how you can prefer one over the other in terms of speed.

Eh...Sorry, didn't mean to bite at ya', i've been bugged quite abit of why i didn't like blue dragon by quite abit of people at GameFAQ's and i get tired of explain'n my reasons.

But for me LO seemed FAR more faster then blue dragon, also when a game looks ... not good looking in both art-style and graphics to me, it really brings down the overall Exp of the game for me, so that really didn't help. thats the issue i had with Vesperia to.

And yes, the 360 has Wonderful JRPG's and out of those jrpg games i honestly feel blue dragon is the disgrace of them all, im just sayin' man, just my opinion im glad you enjoyed it though.

As for Persona, i will admit i was harsh with it, and still am to a large degree, but thats because of its religious blasphemy overall, and i've seen gameplay videos of it and read up on its storyline and i could have sworn it has alot to do with demons. games like that i have issue with, which is why i have a harsh opinion against Demons Souls, it looks great in some area however... in some others... i'd rather not go here because outlaw is among us so yeah...

Annnnd... sorry if i offended you, like i said, i've been flamed for my opinion on blue dragon quite abit on Game FAQ's, it was a natural reaction for me. :/

Don't worry about it. Reading back, what I wrote didn't really seem that nice either, even though I meant it to be more tounge-and-cheek and less direct. I'm just used to a lot of people bashing Blue Dragon without having played it, so I was just making sure. Ironically, the Mistwalker RPGs and Vesperia are the only 360 JRPG's that I like I'm more of a handheld guy.

I will say that I can respect that fact that you dislike games such as Persona and DS because they may go against your religious beliefs.
