I won't take that bet because I believe it. I do want to say that Sony have actually confirmed the 3D functionailty for the summer, and it will coincide with the release of their 3D TVs, and so far GT5 and Super Stardust HD are confirmed to work in 3D. Furthermore, Super Stardust HD runs in 720p while doing 120 FPS, which means it can be done, and Sony have demonstrated other 60 FPS games running in 3D (WipEout HD, MLB The Show) without being reduced to 30 FPS, but SSHD is the only game we know the details for.

While 3d gaming might become bigger next gen i guarantee these next consoles will be powerful enough to run 1080p native games.

3D gaming will be a lot more efficient if they design the capabilities of the system around the technology. You don't have to render everything twice if you're smart about things.
