My gf wants a PS3 of her own and is very fond of the silver one but I have heard rumors that they will not play games with region code 1 (United States), is this true and what about the white one?
can you give us any source to the rumors?
i dont think there's a Region-restriction, that would make zero sense, because all the others can.

PS3 games are usually not region locked, but PS1 games are and some Blu-Rays. You should keep that in mind.

as far as i can see from your profile, you're living in the US. It would make NO Sense, if the Console cant play the Games from the Country its build for.
so dont take him serious, he may just used that as an excuse because they had no Silver PS3's.

ps3 is region free (any ps3 even the silver one my friend) lol
Games are not region locked, but some blurays are. Almost all DVDs are region coded.

there's the good news for you Xbb ^_^
(but the best solution is the slim (imo), its not as sexy as the fat one, but you save lots of energy with it.)
