Forums - PC - MAC or PC

Asking a person around here which brand of computer he/she likes better is like asking a cow which meat she thinks is better, beef or chicken.  You know what she is going to say:

The first thing I was taught as a computer technician is that each OS has its own strengths and weaknesses, and some tasks are easier to do in Windows and other tasks are easier to do on a Mac.  If you ever get someone who says, straight up, OS X sucks and OS Y rules, is full of it IMO.

If you really want some good information (if you are still reading this thread), go to the majorgeeks.com support forum and ask them.  You will get more professional advice there.

I say PC for gaming. Mac if you want to produce music, movies or be a graphic designer.

I disagree on half of this.

I'm a graphic designer and i MUCH prefer using windows for Adobe products and Maya.

Music would be tied as Mac has Soundtrack and Garageband while PC has tons of it's own stuff, the main one being Audacity. However mac gets a slight edge because if you have either of the two programs it comes packed with Loops. (which can be transfered to PC)

Movies is definently Mac though because of Final Cut Pro and even IMovie being really good qaulity.

This is only software thats built for the systems specifically though. I would like to see final cut pro be put on to PC, im pretty sure it would be exactly.

Most of my musician buddies are big into protools.....I dont know what it is but Ive been told its only on mac.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Vlad... what you say is ignorant.. a mac is A PC as well.. you can run natively windows.. why you don't understand this simple thing?
don't even bother? lol... PC Elitism at it's best.....
is like.. comparing a PS3 with a 360 that can play ps3 games as well but costs slightly more...
end of story

Yes obviously I don't know anything... Good luck playing anything worthwhile on your Mac running those VMs. I'm sure you will pull off about 20 FPS.

Please spread your Mac elitism where people don't know what they are talking about. It works better. Also I did not get your analogy at all...

Anyone with a mac knows not try to play games designed for Windows using a VM.  If you run it in Bootcamp you can get quite acceptable results.  I use my Mac for some business use and for the internet.  Games are what I play on consoles.  There are things I prefer about Windows PCs such as having a much greater choice when it comes to expansion and upgrades but overall I prefer the Mac.  Apple computers do what they are designed to do very well and being Apple products are always aesthetically pleasing.  When you feel the need to upgrade, the extra premium you pay for the Mac is recouped when you sell off your old hardware on eBay as Apple products hold their value pretty well.

Vlad has no idea about macs and it shows.. you don't need vmware to run windows....
ignorant...

Oh please enlighten me, how do you legally play games on hardware bought from Apple?

Every Leopard disks comes with windows drivers.. you run an app called boot camp (built in in osx)then you insert your fav windows version..
reboot and you install windows in a 2nd partition.. from now on is like a pc nothing is emulated or virtualized..
and there is nothing to hack.. everything is supported natively (of course you can make smth similar in pc with osx86 but here we are talking about smth that is supported and everything works natively out of the box)
what you were talking about was if you tried to play a game in a mac operating system via vmware or whatever...
when you boot your mac you select windows or osx..
everything is like a normal pc there is no difference in speed..
so for example an apple laptop with the same specs of a vaio or whatever runs everything the same..
it's not a big deal to reboot in windows to play your favorite game.

Ironically, I believe Intel based macs are touted as being the most stable platform for Windows.
